  • Great Belt
I have only had mine for a short time but it fits and works fine. My old belt was worn out and was ready to break when I took it off. This new one took away a vibration I had from the clutch case and a knocking noise I had from a worn out belt and it's quiet again. Check your belt if you have doubts because this one is affordable and seems heavy duty also. It made a big difference in my case. I went to YouTube and found out how easy they are to install. This fit my 2004 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO just fine. ... show more

  • Good value priced belt
The OEM belt i do strongly believe lasts longer but for the price this is a great value and works fine

  • Outstanding quality
I was looking for a cheaper option to an OEM replacement and I'm more than satisfied. I was a bit nervous going away from OEM and this belt has a different look, but I took my machine out for a ride to break in the new belt and what a difference. Much better acceleration.

  • Good product, return issues
Product was mislabeled for my atv at NO fault of the seller. However, issues with the seller were present. Overall great product. I bought the right size and it works great.

  • OEM Replacement - NOT
Don’t get me wrong, this is a nice looking belt and seems to be working fine on my 2004 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO. When I reviewed the description of this item as listed on Amazon, however, it was marketed by Gates as an exact replacement for the Polaris OEM belt. However, when I “tore down” the Sportsman and removed the OEM belt (which was no simple task), I found that the Polaris belt was a single cogged belt whereas the Gates belt was double cogged. I tried to call Gates, but since it was the weekend the folks I needed to talk to were not working. Since it was a “kind of a pain in the A _ _” getting access to and removing the OEM belt I installed the double cogged Gates belt and put everything back together. I did the “break-in” process that Gates recommended and everything seemed to work OK. On Monday I called Gates again and spoke with one of their “tech guys”. He said “no worries - the double cogged belt will work fine and I should actually get better mileage from the double cogged”. We will see, but as of now all seems fine. Update: See Photographs As I previously stated, I did run the Gates prescribed “break-in” protocol after installing the belt. The ATV is kept at my cabin (150 miles away) and after the “break-in”, which was at very moderate speed on flat surfaces. I had not used my 2004 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO for any substantial amount of time since the install (I really don’t think at all). I then went deer hunting at my cabin and began using and parking the ATV on more unleveled surfaces. Trying to go from low gear to reverse I found that the shifter kept locking up on me. I contacted the nearby Polaris dealer, and without telling them I had installed an after market belt, the service tech told me “that is a classic symptom of the belt being too tight”. See Photos. What I found is that the Gates belt is roughly an 1/8 of an inch wider then the OEM Polaris Belt. On the conical shapped drives this would make the belt tighter. I reinstalled my old Polaris OEM belt and the ATV is now running fine. Since I am now out $44 for a Gates Belt that is essentially useless to me I have tried to contact Gates three separate times but get no response. I did find a “warranty procedure” on their website that requires not only that you send the belt back at your expense but also required that you also accompany the belt and warranty claim with a $25 processing fee - with no guarantee it would be accepted. Would you believe? Anyway, I am not sure whether my individual Gates belt is out-of-spec or if the are all like this. So beware! ... show more
