Have about 500 miles on a set of these axles. My machine shop was impressed with the hardness of the spline area as these needed to be shortened. Flange area is a softer material necessary to press in new wheel studs. 1/4" spacer included was the perfect size to fit my rear drum brakes of 1.750. These axles will fit many different rear brake sizes from 1.50 to 2.250. 1.50 rear brakes will not need a spacer under the axle bearing. Each successively wider drum brake pad will need a 1/4 inch spacer added under the axle bearing to space the axle properly out of the housing. When you measure the axle length to cut, measure from the rear of the bearing on the old axle shaft to the end of the axle shaft spline. High quality material, impressed with the overall size of the axle diameter and weight is much better than stock. ... show more

Box was busted open but I'd blame that on the shipper. Axle fit but I did reuse the oem bearing plate. Theirs was flat the original has a lip that reaches through the disk brake backing plate. If you use their plate it won't hold the seal in. Might be fine on drum brakes but idk

When my Jeep decided it didn't want to pull anymore, I knew it was time to upgrade to a one piece axle. Having never messed with axles before, I was a little leery of doing this work myself, but what can I say? I'm cheap, but have a great set of tools and have always been pretty handy. You Tube is a great source of information, so my son and I started watching all the videos that we could find while we waited for these to arrive. When the morning came to install these... we torn into that Jeep feeling more confident that we ever imagined. Long story short... we installed these, as well as replacing the rear brakes and wheel cylinders, in about three hours taking our time. You'll need access to a bearing press to install the bearings, and Harbor Freight has one for less than $200 that's perfect for this. Otherwise, we were quoted about $75 per axle to have a shop press them in. I feel better about these one-piece axles over the two-piece ones. You can see the photo above what the stripped two-piece looked like. Not pretty. I rated these 5 stars for both the quality I feel these axles to be, and the price I paid. If you have a press and thickness gauge this is a great axle that comes with almost everything except the wheel studs. Don't be fooled that the studs are in the picture of both the Amazon listing and the Yukon website it does not come with them. Frustrating when you are getting everything ready to assemble and the vehicle is apart and you find no wheel studs but everything else is their including quality Timken bearing. ... show more
