I meant to use these as an outer layer for riding and so I ordered extra big to make sure other pants would fit beneath. A few reviews mentioned that they're snug in the thigh/knee, and while that's true, the waist fits right on with measurements plus there's there are stretchy bits that offer 2-3 extra inches on either side. At least there belt loops too. In other words, just order your normal size. You will have to pull your jeans through the knees but it's easy with the zippers open. I personally like the snug fit since they don't flap on the bike. The knees also have rugged material so you can kneel on them without worry. The texture inside is soft and very warm against skin, but you need another layer for riding in the cold. They are windproof in the sense that air doesn't flow through the material, but wind still chills the surface and you start to feel cooler where it presses against you. I stayed warm at 45 F going up to 50mph with just thin khakis under. Lastly as a cherry on top, I like to be low-key with my appearance but I do still need some visibility, and the bright orange zippers add just the right touch to compliment my orange bootlaces but still subtle overall. Returning and reordering these in my actual size because they're worth it!
