Awesome watch! The Garmin Connect app helps keep track of my steps, sleep, breaths, etc..etc… plus I can wear it in the shower or swimming if I want. It has a. 6-7 day battery life, depending on if I have notifications from my phone come through.

TL;DR - If you're looking for a high-end smartwatch look elsewhere. If you're looking for an above average fitness watch you read the rest. Bought this to kick my butt into getting healthier post 2020 and have a smartwatch at the same time. So far so good! I went with Garmin since they are more focused on physical activity and being active. This fits the bill almost nicely. The cons are the standouts here. The sleep tracking is...sketch. Once you set your bedtime via the app if you lie down in bed and don't move...it'll think your asleep. lie still long enough and you'll be in REM sleep...all while lying awake and staring at the ceiling. It's useful for tracking my pulse ox while I sleep and to get a rough idea of when I get in bed and out. Other con is music. I got the Music Venu Sq for the ability to load stuff onto it so I could leave my cellphone at home if I go running or on a neighborhood walk. It works but you need to load it though your computer. And as a YouTube music subscriber (long story), there is no watch app to use the service as of 02/14/2021. If I carry my phone I can stream it through my watch to my headphones... a little more convoluted than I'd like. The health stats (outside sleep) are pretty amazing and the app goes into even further detail. In addition to your normal run tracker and other basics in that vein It connects to MyFitnessPal for calorie tracking, Garmin Golf for golfing activities, you can even swim in this thing! I personally love that it includes yard work, yoga and meditation as activities that contribute to your overall "intensity minutes" score. Battery lasts for days on days. I charge it once every 6 days or so once the battery gets to 10%. It pairs quickly and has a decent range. As a smartwatch it's ok. You can set up a few quick replies for texts...but that's about the height of it's smarts. Can't use it Dick Tracy style to talk to people. ... show more

I was looking for a reasonably priced watch to replace my aged Galaxy Active 2 watch. Mostly I needed something to track my runs and that I could load music onto! And I wanted a rectangle watch for a style change. I searched and searched and came across this - I think less popular? - Garmin watch. It had exactly what I wanted and within my budget. But now that I've been using it, I Love it! I am a serious "data" junkie and am thrilled at how much data I'm given from wearing this watch!! I mean every single data point I could think of is here!! It's endlessly fascinating and motivating to track steps, distance, HRT, and unique things like Stress level and body energy! Not the best battery life with that being said otherwise its a good smartwatch. Had a Samsung Galaxy 3 before I had bought this one and that was very disappointing.     • Charging issues

I've had frequent problems with charging this watch which started about a year into it. The charging cable at that time was kind of awkward so I bought a stand for it and a new cable hoping that would help. About 6 mos ago, it started to become a battle getting it to keep the contact with the pins- not sure if it was the watch or the plug. I've followed all the Garmin advice on cleaning and troubleshooting recommendations to no avail. So it's completely dead at this point. At any rate, now I cannot get it to make contact at all. I've ordered another cable in hope that is the issue. Will update when new cable comes. After going through the same issues with a Fitbit Charge, I thought upgrading to a more expensive quality device would help, but it's not looking good at this point. I have used Fitbit for years, but I don't like the company tracking that you have to agree to now. So I turned to Garmin. The Venu is great, though it IS rather large on a woman's wrist. Still, I can see the screen (a feat for a 70+) and the face is bright enough that I can see it in the out of doors on a sunny day. There are more "bells and whistles" than I will ever use, but that's what makes it flexible to all activities. The one thing I am not quite comfortable with is that it seems the steps counted is off. Doing activities that would have given me 8-10k steps shows 4-5k on the Garmin. It's possible that I need to do something to calibrate it and just haven't found the way. I always had to input my stride length in the Fitbit but was never asked with the Garmin setup. Still, I much prefer the Garmin and am quite happy with my purchase. ... show more
