  • Great Addition to your Montana GPS
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This works great to charge and power your Montana GPS while driving, including speaking and other tone prompts. We also picked up a discounted Garmin City Navigator on a micro Sim and loaded in the GPS (here on Amazon). When we want an Excellent Garmin Driving GPS we just click on the driving profile and it acts like as a top of the line Garmin Navigator complete with voice directed routing, and driving maps. Then when we want to go hiking and geocaching we change to the Geocaching profile and we are using the super detailed 1:2400 Topo Quad Maps we have loaded into the internal memory as well as all the geocaching data. If your a fisherman then load the fishing maps, there are a number of other profiles you can define. Finally a single GPS receiver that does everything extremely well. The Mount is light weight (great for traveling on an airline), and stays put on the dash. The GPS easily snaps in and out of the mount and the only other connection is the cigarette lighter adapter for power. Questions? Give me a shout at [email protected] ... show more

  • Great but sometimes pops vehicle fuses
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Works well--nice and loud. Doesn't slide around on the dash. The bendable metal base allows for adjusting to fit the dash. Only issue with the unit is that it randomly pops fuses in my truck (Toyota Tundra). I've gone through 2 fuses since installing the device.

  • Have to plug it in or the Garmin unit doesn't work right.
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
All we wanted, in purchasing this Auto Friction Mount (with speaker) was for our new Garmin Montana 680t to give us verbal navigation instructions for driving. The 680t is not capable, by itself, of a voice output. The mount comes with no instructions. When I first attached the 680t to the mount, the speaker didn't work. When I then tried to use the 680t by itself, it would no longer connect to USB on the computer, which is a disaster if you want to add a map to the unit or use Base Camp. I had to call tech support, where I was told to do a 680t master reset, before I could again connect the Garmin to the computer by USB. This is done by powering up while holding a finger in the left upper corner of the (portrait position) screen, and then when it asks if you really want to erase data, you have to answer a scary "yes", which the tech support guy said would not erase maps, waypoints, routes, etc. It kept my maps, waypoints, and routes, but please do not just take my word for this. I would prefer that you hear it from Garmin. After I did that, I again tried the 680t on the mount. It still didn't work. Turns out the mount has to be plugged into the car cigarette lighter with the ignition turned on for the speaker to work during navigation. It is tinny-sounding, but volume is adequate if the 680t volume is turned up to 100%. The volume control, which is activated by a quick press-and-release of the power button, will not appear unless either a headphone or powered-up computer speakers or equivalent is plugged into the 3.5 mm jack on the 680t, OR the Garmin is attached to the powered-up mount, that is, plugged into the car cigarette lighter jack with ignition on. Another thing they don't tell you before you buy the 680t: it is functional for navigation and position finding only when NOT attached to USB on a computer, so there is no way to keep external power on, and the battery charged, while you are using the 680t - - UNLESS it is plugged into the powered-up mount, in which case the 680t works like the 10+ year-old Nuvi 750 we already had, battery stays charged and the 680t still works. Garmin would do well to spend 10 cents to add instructions like this that they could put on or in the box for the mount. ... show more

  • right where you want it for good, easy access
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Took it on a 2,000 mile trip and had no issues. Placed it on the driver's side corner of the dash, which is sloped in our car, and it stayed in place no problem. Holds the Montana, which is a fairly heavy GPS, right where you want it for good, easy access. Very pleased with this mounting system. And, it easily moved from one vehicle to another. Also used the mount with a Garmin Nuvi GPS, no issues. ... show more

  • DON'T BUY FROM DATAVISION COMPUTER CO!!!
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I recieved this mount and it was totally dead. No recognition of the GPS unit plugged in, no spoken directions with City Nav, no charging of the GPS. Totally nonfunctional. I shipped it back to datavision for a return, with my receipt for the item. They refused to return it without charging me a %15 restocking fee AND charging for the "manufacturer's packaging". With the cost of return shipping and the fees this would total the original purchase cost! I recieved zero customer service help, they would not return my phonecalls, nothing. I've never had such a terrible online experience, completely disgusted. I now own a $60 paperweight. ... show more

  • Good mount
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This mount works well--does not move on the dash, even though the dash's surface is irregular, and the Montana does not droop or otherwise move around either. Only improvement would be to have a volume control--I don't see any way to change the volume on the Montana itself.

Ball mount made of plastic. Broke one petal (plastic) and made entire unit useless. Works good but be very careful....IT'S PLASTIC!
