  • works great with my Garmin 67W dash cam
Style: Cable
Installation relatively easy on my VW Touareg TDI. You'll also need the pigggyback wires for the fuse box. Check the voltage though; it didn't power the camera initially and I spent some time replacing the wire connectors until I realized that it cuts off if less than 11.7V (was just under in my case). ... show more

  • Works to hardwire my garmin dash cam - but has some issues
Style: Cable
Hardwire kit works well. Doesn't include everything you need to do the job (you need to purchase fuse taps yourself) cons: Overpriced. Average cost of other brands is half this cost. You have to open the case in order to change the voltage check - for me it would never go into parking mode when set to the highest/safest setting. So having to pull it back out, unscrew it - change the setting - then put it all back together just made it a pain. It got the job done but I hated having to purchase this. ... show more

  • Works as Designed but Needs Clarity/Enhancement - Jeep Wrangler JLU
Style: Cable
Works as designed I suppose. The cable is easily long enough to run from the dash cam to the footwell of a Jeep JLU Wrangler for power. I wired it with the ACC wire to the AUX switch pack Ignition wire and the Battery wire to the AUX 4 switch wire. The unit only has power if AUX 4 is ON. Garmin should make it more clear how the unit operates. Wiring ACC to Ignition DOES NOT power the unit when the Jeep is running unless the AUX 4 switch is ON. The ACC wire on the parking cable is ONLY there to sense when the ignition is on or off and thus whether the unit needs to enter parking mode. The Battery wire is the one that drives the power supply. Yes, that may be obvious but there are many who seem to think that's not the case thus it's not clear. There should be a "switched" option where when vehicle/ignition ON means dash cam is always ON and when vehicle/ignition is OFF the power to the unit can be controlled, i.e., I don't need the dash cam drawing power while sitting in my garage for 2-3 days!!! ... show more

  • Not only for parking mode
Style: Cable
Recently purchased two Garmin 55 and two parking mode wiring harness. The camera is great in its small size and function. I didn't want a cord coming down and plugging into the cigarette lighter even if the cord is long enough to be hidden in the headliner and molding. If you are going to that effort you might as well make it seamless and hard wire it to your fuse box under your steering wheel. Youtube has some good videos and for a first time installer it was easier than I thought. The two thing you must buy from an auto parts store (about $8 each if they have the extra fuses and about $6 if they don't ) are two add-a- fuse adapters - make sure you get the right size add a fuse adapter as one car had the low profile fuses and the other didn't. Because the end of the wire of the harness is bare wire and you need to crimp it into the adapter to plug into the fuse panel. Each adapter has two slots (use a 10A for both the battery and the accessory wire) so that it will have two fuses to accommodate the dash cam and whatever was being powered originally. This third wire is ground and that does not need an adapter. Once you get it up and running it is seamless and you do not need to do anything once you start your car. It does have a legal notice that comes up every time with a prompt to "agree" but you don't need to press any button as it will go away in about 10-15 seconds. In fact, you probably shouldn't as anytime you touch this small camera as it is very easy to alter the aim point by mistake. About the parking mode. It is motion activated and I turned it off since one time I came back to my car and I had 17 parked mode videos stored. Apparently light and distant movement trigger the activation. Still, the parking mode wiring is exactly what I needed for keeping the console uncluttered and not even noticing the camera as it barely peeks out beneath my rear view mirror. ... show more

  • SOLID PRODUCT-HIGH PRICE
Style: Cable
Works exactly as intended with no issues. Ignore the review with the long rambling complaint about saved parking mode videos. The person who wrote the review obviously doesn't know how to use/change the settings in the Garmin "drive" app. -Go to settings -Select Parking Mode -Select one of the following Motion - Impact - Motion/Impact If there are a lot of cars or foot traffic passing by your camera while parked and you don't want a video every time this happens then set it to record only if it detects an impact. It should only be set to record motion if you're curious to see whats going on outside your car. Do not set it to record motion for the purpose of catching a thief. If they break in to your car they are going to steal the camera with the memory card and the motion detection will have been pointless. On a quick side note, the reason parking mode videos are automatically saved is because when the recording occurs you're obviously not in the car. It's saved to prevent it from being overwritten before you have the opportunity to view it. Installation is straight forward and didn't take long. If you're comfortable with performing basic wiring on your vehicle than installation should be easy. If you're not up to the task then any stereo shop and/or the majority of mechanics should have no problem. I found the quickest/most efficient method for installation was to purchase fuse taps(2). If you don't know what those are a quick Google search will provide all the info you need. They can be purchased on Amazon or at any auto supply store. Only complaint/drawback is the price Garmin charges for this. Garmin should really include this with the camera or at the very least lower the price. ... show more
