I would never have thought that I would be posting a five star review for Garden Mate Gauge HEAVY-DUTY U-Shaped Garden Securing Pegs...but here it is! I usually pick up a pack every few years at my local hardware store, but I waited a little too late into the season (winter) to decide that I needed some of these things. You see, I sometimes use them to hold landscaping plastic in place under mulch, but my primary use for them is Christmas lights. I like to outline my flower gardens and walk ways in fairy lights, and these things are absolutely perfect for shoving into the ground and between rocks in my rock wall, to hold the lights in place and to keep them from blowing across the lawn when the weather gets really windy and nasty. I buy a packet or two every few years because the things that I have been buying locally are rather thin, and the bend out of shape easily. They also rust fast. There are also 100 of these things in a pack. The boxes of pegs that I buy locally have 45 of them for the same price as these. Another reason to love these! It was fortuitous that I waited a few weeks longer to go shopping for these things, because otherwise, I would have ended up with yet another pack of things that would be shot before I bring the lights back in after Christmas. A quick on-line search brought me to these things...They are really heavy-duty, thick and solid enough that when I needed to step on one to get it into the ground, it didn't flatten out like the thinner ones do. These sod staples will last me many years, I'm sure, and I will only be replacing these after I have successfully lost enough of them to make it necessary. If you are planing a big landscaping job, one the involves rock or stone, or laying fabric under an area where there will be foot traffic, I would strongly recommend that you but a pack or two of these things! They are built to last. Something I can't say about any of the other staples that I have used over the years. So there...I DID just review sod staples! Who would have ever guessed? ... show more
