This is not meant for anything other than soft soil. I live in Arizona. We do not have soft soil. I thought about sending it back but I added rigidity by nailing a piece of strapping along the back side to keep it uniform. I also dug a small trench to minimize hammering. I ordered three long strips and a shorter one to cover the 40-foot run. The shorter run had the same dimensions as the longer runs but the ends were cut differently. The final product looks attractive. I would recommend you order something different if you do not want the extra work and materials needed to make a straight and attractive perimeter.
