  • Excellent Tool

Love gold & green color — I’m a messy gardener & kept losing my old silver one. Nice large scoop & good construction.

  • Purchase Something More Durable than this flimsy scoop Purchase Something More Durable than this flimsy scoop

This is very thin "stainless steel" and it bent while trying to dig into sandy ground. Do NOT get unless you only plan to use in fluffy potting soil. Save your money! See dent that I manually bent back into form the best I could. (Bent by the stainless steal imprint.) I wouldn't call it a garden tool unless your garden has fluff. ... show more

  • Disappointed
Size: 1 Pack Style: Titanium
The trowel felt good in my hand and i liked how much dirt and debris it would dig in one maneuver However It broke the third time I used it and a thistle. I have never broken one on thistle bewfore and I did not think I was that strong to be able to brake it. I was quite surprised..

  • Easy to use and works as expected!
Size: 1 Pack Style: Titanium
This trowel feels very solid and durable. I like that the handle feels well sized and comfortable to hold. The material itself is thick and I expect this to last for years! Easy to use and works as expected!

  • Good for gardening
Size: 1 Pack Style: Titanium
This weed fork tool is very nice and seems to be good quality, also matches the gold shovel with green handle. Overall, these two tools make a really cute set for gardening. Both of these tools are a bit bigger than standard size, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, just something to consider. I’ve been pleased so far. It’s worth noting that the handle is pretty ergonomic and fits my hand quite well, does not feel heavy or bulky even though it’s a bit larger than usual (as previously mentioned). ... show more

  • if this matches your use case, it's an excellent scoop and you should buy it if this matches your use case, it's an excellent scoop and you should buy it

You have a lot of hand shovels, or scoops, to choose from. Let's see how well this scoop will work for you by having a look at my experience. Pros: 1) The product description says this shovel has a stainless steel scoop. In all honesty, I didn't think this was true. Even if it was true, I anticipated they used the cheap kind of stainless steel that would be attracted to a magnet - the kind that would rust. I WAS WRONG! To my surprise, the scoop of this shovel is not attracted to a magnet at all. The scoop is made of high quality stainless steel. I am truly surprised - and delighted! I think this is unusual and points to long use without rust on the scoop. 2) I've had hand shovels in the past with such thick scoops that I couldn't press them into the soil. Stainless steel is strong, even when thin, and this hand shovel's scoop is both strong AND thin. Have a look at the photo I attached. That's a US dime in the shovel's scoop. The scoop is about half the thickness of a dime. I found the scoop easy to press into amended soil, and I think this is important. Indifferent: 3) The golden, "titanium" coating seems unnecessary to me. The great quality stainless steel of the scoop should take care of itself, and the titanium will probably come off with use, anyway. More than the scoop is coated, though. The scoop connects to the plastic handle through a rod and its attachment, which are attracted to a magnet and are welded onto the back of the scoop. Maybe the coating will help keep those from rusting, but I think this is of minor value. You don't insert the rod into the soil, and it should dry pretty fast when washed, anyway, so I'm indifferent about this feature. Cons: 4) How will you use this shovel? Will you be scooping sand? Fertilizer? Compost? Peat? Planting soil? Soil amendments? Pea gravel? If any of these is your application, stop reading and order this shovel. This shovel holds a very generous volume and will work well for you. BUT, if you're trying to dig into hard clay soil, or through tough clods of dirt, you won't like this shovel. For clay soil a shovel's edge needs to be thin AND the shovel needs to be narrower so the clay doesn't encounter a large area to push back against. Being a generously sized shovel, it was difficult for me to push it deeply into my unworked clay soil. If you will be working with hard soils, look for another shovel. 5) I found the distance from the handle to the end of the shovel to feel a little too long. I like that this hand shovel had such a large capacity, but when fully loaded I found it a little unwieldy. Maybe that's just me, and, of course, I don't have to fully load it, so this is a minor quibble. So is this shovel for you? If it is, get it and I hope it lasts a long time for you. One last note: you are reading a Vine review, which means this product was sent to me without my having to pay for it. I never believed Vine reviews, I felt people would say anything to get free stuff. The Vine program, at least for me, is a little different: I only get what I go out of my way to ask for, and everything I get is reported as income to me, so I'll have to pay income taxes at what will probably be reported as list price. I may actually lose on the deal. But it's about to be April, it's time to go back into the garden, I wanted this product, it's something I use, I never saw a shovel with a stainless steel scoop before while I have a couple of rusted hand shovels from past years, I didn't know it existed before I saw it available for review, and, hopefully, my experience has been a help to you. ... show more

  • A Super-Sized Garden Scoop A Super-Sized Garden Scoop
Size: 1 Pack Style: Titanium
I’ll preface this by noting this Garden Guru product page covers 5 different gardening implements, and it appears the reviews cover the gamut. Mine is focused specifically on the oversized “Garden Scoop Trowel Shovel Transplanter” – at least that’s what the product listing calls it. I think of it as a "Super-Duper Soil Scooper." My gardening space is limited to containers on my deck, which means I need to deal with filling those suckers with soil when it’s time to transplant my little seedlings into their larger summer homes. A regular garden trowel is useless for that task – far too small – so last year I resorted to using a small metal mixing bowl from my kitchen. That created its own problems. The lack of a handle meant that I had to use both hands to hold the mixing bowl to scoop up the soil mix, plus it took that sweet little mixing bowl away my kitchen accoutrements. It was good fortune and great timing when I found this Garden Guru scoop on Amazon. Although we’re still 6+ weeks away from being able to transplant or move plants outside – this is Alaska, so we don’t usually put things out until Memorial Day – I already know this scoop is going to make my life so much easier this season. The scoop handle is designed for a good fit and it feels quite comfortable to hold, even in my smallish hand. As you can see from my photo, the Garden Guru scoop is substantially deeper than my old trowel scoop (wider, too!) so it will hold a lot more soil mix to be transferred into my gardening pots. This year that little metal mixing bowl will get to stay in my kitchen where it belongs. What don’t I like about this garden tool? Personally, I’m not a fan of the gold-ish colored “titanium coating” that overlays the stainless-steel scoop. Given a choice, I’d go for a regular steel-colored scoop rather than this upscale version. This one looks like it aspires to be gold-plated, and might be more comfortable carousing on the Vegas Strip that it would be doing the dirty work in a backyard garden. BOTTOM LINE: If you’re looking for an oversized garden scoop that can move more soil or potting mix than a basic trowel, this well-priced Garden Guru scoop may be right for you. ... show more
