  • Imo, not great for reading during daylight but a help for late night blue light blocking.
Color: 3 Light Black + 2 Leopard Magnification Strength: 1.0 x
I had a lot of difficulties with the coating on these lenses. There are rainbows that reflect off the rainbow coating back into my eyes off the glasses, especially if I have any bright light coming at me from the side. They always look smudged even if they are freshly cleaned, and I’m doing everything I can to only touch the frames. This is both because they seem to attract smudges and because the coating itself somehow looks smudged. For me, these are just awful for reading during daylight. I cannot yet speak to their scratch resistance. BUT there has been a very happy side effect of trying these glasses, and that is that it really does help a bit with sleep. While I was waiting on new glasses from another company, I ended up doing more nighttime reading than usual and used these glasses as a stopgap with breaks to ease my discomforts. (They still aren’t truly good for me for reading, even in low light, although they are less problematic in low light late at night than they are in bright indoor daylight/office light.) At night, I turn off regular lights and use red light reading lights, but these really can’t make up for the amount of blue light that many of us get in our windows from city lights or floodlights on garages. I have a blackout curtain in my bedroom, but it’s really not possible in my living space. I also use blue Bleblocker sunglasses for those nighttime activities where I can see well enough with them on. But unfortunately that means removing the blublockers quite often, as such dark and large lenses are really prohibitive for a lot of tasks. And I’m pretty late to put them on, simply because I want to get as many things done at night as I can... for which I need better eyesight. Therefore, I noticed a distinct benefit in having to use these reading glasses while waiting for my other glasses to arrive. As a result of this discovery, I have purchased zero magnification glasses from this same seller. I have noticed that almost anywhere else you look the blue blocking reading glasses that you can get block at most 30 to 35% of the blue light that comes in directly through the lens (never mind what’s coming in through the side). I imagine that this number is simply because of the difficulty in making a coating that maintains clarity, etc.. while the lenses that only have a 30 to 35% protection will be helpful for me when I need to read at night, I can put this company’s 0.0 on for anything else that I am doing late at night where the blublockers would impede my vision too significantly. Also, their customer service is unparalleled, so five stars for that. UPDATE: I made an interesting discovery as I’ve been testing out my newer readers that are only supposed to block 30-34% blue light. I decided to use the blue light testing card that comes with these Amazon glasses on my assorted readers from F——r G—-t. I had purchased quite a few clearance readers and sunglass bifocals because I still wasn’t 100% sure I had the right diopter strength. One of my FG’s was supposed to be a blue light blocking “e.reader” but was only supposed to block up to 34% of blue light. Using the test card with these glasses side by side and shining the light for about a minute back and forth, I discovered that the FGs performed just as well, probably a little better, as the area under them seems to be a purer white. And their lenses have high clarity. I have no idea how much blue light needs to pass through before the strip turns purple, but the card provides at least some indication that the blue light is getting blocked. With that in mind I thought maybe I should test my non-blue light FG readers. I actually don’t want to block blue light first thing in the morning, and indeed, two of my readers offered zero blue light protection as they were advertised. But interestingly, another FG reader that was not advertised as having any blue light or UVA/UVB protection performed just as well as the ones that were advertised to block blue light. And the bifocal FG sunglasses did too. So now I have more questions about how much light is really being blocked by these Gaoye glasses and by the FG ones that block the blue light. I know that they block little compared to my blublocker sunglasses (With those I can literally look directly at a device I have that has a huge blue power light larger than my hand and barely make out any hint of color). But I also know that using the Gaoye for an extended time helped my sleep. I am guessing that these Gaoye glasses should be advertised more in the 30% range (not counting what comes in from the side). But I’m still glad to have purchased some in zero magnification, given that blublockers are simply not practical to wear most of the time. Since some FG readers performed just as well on the card test as the Gaoye, I have retired my less clear 1.0 Gaoye, however. ... show more

  • Tough and cheap
Color: 5-pack Mix Color 2 Magnification Strength: 2.0 x
I bought these for my close up viewing, reading. I found out what I really wanted was half reading glasses. So I bought what were called half readers, but I couldn’t see over the lens even with them at the end of my nose. So I took these Gaoye glasses and routed the lenses out so there was a good section open for looking out at distance and having the 2.0 magnifiers right where I look down to read something. The thin little lenses were good enough to take that abuse and didn’t scratch and gave my exactly what I wanted. I have modified 3 of the 5 pairs. I did break one lens finding out how to get a hole through, but after that I know how to do that. ... show more

  • Very stylish
Color: #5-pack Mix Color Magnification Strength: 4.0 x
These reading glasses are great. I ordered them so I could have several pairs that I could leave in various places in my home like in the kitchen family room as well as my home office. The lens of these glasses are very clear and crisp. They are very stylish. The colors are very fun and vibrant. There is a color to complement any outfit. They are definitely a go ood value for the price! For the sake of transparency I did return the first set I ordered only because I ordered the 4.0 strength which were too strong for me. I normally wear 3.50 strength so more is not always better. Order what you normally wear. I totally recommend these reading glasses ... show more

  • I Use These Daily
Color: 5-pack Light Black Magnification Strength: 2.5 x
I’m not the youngster I used to be so when I’m working it’s just not as easy for me to see as it once was, but I don’t want to wear my expensive glasses and possibly damage them. That’s where the GAOYE glasses come in. As advertised they magnify while cutting down on glare, and just about as important are their spring-loaded “arms”, which help keep the glasses in place. I’ve been exceptionally happy with these glasses, their quality is terrific and their value even better, so I’d definitely recommend them. ... show more

  • My husband and I both love these glasses!
Color: 5-pack Leopard Magnification Strength: 3.0 x
I was at work and one of my customers commented on my glasses because he noticed that my glasses were staying on when I bent over. He ended up buying a pack as well! I’ve bought these twice now and will continue to do so. Very comfortable, look great, great for women and men and durable! Now if we could just stop losing them! ... show more

  • Brittle Frames
Color: 5-pack Light Black Magnification Strength: 1.5 x
Great glasses except . . . I'm glad they come in a 5 pack because every pair has 1 arm left now that I broke my last pair. I suppose I'm hard on my glasses but they usually have a higher survival rate. Contemplating reordering since I did get a year out of them, but I may look for a more durable option. ... show more

  • Nice frames
Color: 5-pack Light Black Magnification Strength: 2.25 x
I was having a problem with my plastic frames breaking at the hinges. These ones have a spring loaded hinge. I've only been wearing them for a few days but I expect they will hold up much better than my old ones due to the springs.

  • Good price but scratch easily
Color: 5-pack Light Black/1 Sun Magnification Strength: 2.5 x
They are well priced but I am rough with my glasses and unfortunately after a couple of weeks of usage, both the ones I used had scratches on the lenses. I may steer toward more scratch resistant glasses and pay a bit more.
