  • When used with an appropriate phone, these are great.

Don't make the mistake I did and think that just because your phone has a USB-C port and supports OTG charging, that the rest of the controller features will be supported. They should, but there are no guarantees. I bought this to use with an LG G6. Big mistake. In their infinite (lack of) wisdom, something LG did in their UI prevents ANY game controller from working properly, be it connected via USB-C or with Bluetooth. With this phone, the buttons work perfectly, but the DPAD and analog sticks are mis-mapped and partially non-functional. Reports from someone lucky enough to have the sub-model which allowed for a firmware change, indicate that the issue goes away with 3rd party firmware. Unfortunately, LG long abandoned the G6 and refuses to allow the vast majority of G6 owners to upgrade the firmware, by withholding the critical information needed to do so. I could get the controller to work with the GameSir software, which allows for mapping touch-screen presses to the physical buttons, but how well this works is greatly dependent on the app being used and whether or not you can deal with things overlaid onto your screen while playing. I consider this route to be a hack of last resort, and personally find it to be unacceptable. However, when I connected a decent phone from a company which seems to care about supporting their products (Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra) everything just worked perfectly, with no need for extra software or spending hours trying to troubleshoot. The takeaway is that the X2 is often being blamed for problems which are not it's fault, so before purchasing, you may wish to test your phone with a USB-C to OTG adapter and a normal controller, to make sure your phone can properly support such a device and still charge when it is in use. The only cons I have found is the need to use a caseless phone and the buttons feel a little small. But everything else about the X2 is great. When on sale, it's hard to imagine anything else which could do a better job and be a better value, without being substantially larger in size. ... show more

  • For its price, it's ok but not great.

Not a bad product. It has its selling points. But not the best out there either. I'd give it 3.5 star if I can, but their Gamesir app hits me with a terribly bad taste. Pros: 1. The cooler is best in class. It's more than just a fan cause of its design based on thermodynamics. To prove the point, the cooling plate gets below room temp and you can directly feel it with your hand. This should be the main reason why you choose this controller over others. 2. It looks very good. The controller design is simple and modern, and the RBG lights and the case it comes with adds to that when you are using it in the public. Neutral points: 1. You can create your own key mapping. On the flip side, the default key mappings just don't work out of box so you need to adjust it or create it from scratch yourself. No, it doesn't work out of box even for popular games like Genshin Impact. But you can get it to work with little effort after adjusting the mapping. 2. The controller is a bit bulky. But that should be expected because I (and you too) choose to have a cooler. Cons: 1. You have to install Gamesir's app in order to use the controller. The app sucks. It asks for all kinds of permission that it doesn't need. Why the f do you need to know my location as a controller app? Why the f do you need access to my photo folder as a controller app? Why the f do you not open if I deny you access to my photo folder? You may argue that it needs them for screenshot and what have you. But I'd rather to not be able to screenshot and to give up whatever feature than to give a Chinese company access to my location info and my photo folder. 2. There is nothing on the menu or product description that says I have install an app for it. I had to do my own Googling to find out. And the app turned out to suck, which added to the negative sentiment at the spot. 3. The fan's power supply is separated from the charging line for your phone. If you want to charge your phone while using the controller, you need two cables. They did it this way so they don't need to have a separate power control for the fan. You just plug the fan power in if you want the cooler on, and pull it out when you want the cooler off. That's more of laziness in design than actually cost saving in manufacturing. ... show more
