    • Great space saving shelf (and versatile horizonally)

This shelf was delivered in great condition--no missing parts, no damaged pieces, everything was well protected and I love that the assembly pieces are so well marked. The only draw back was that the stickers on the actual shelves were sometimes a challenge to remove and left a stubborn stickiness. Normally I leave the stickers and assemble with them on the bottom, but since both sides of most shelves are visible that isn't an option. The holes for the screws were perfectly placed. It took me a little longer to assemble because our power screwdriver battery was dead, but I did get the shelf together manually with the included tool. The shelves are not heavy or bulky, but the entire unit is quite sturdy. It's an attractive shelf, suitable for small spaces. After assembly, I realized that the place I want to use it is carpeted, and I'm not entirely comfortable with the stability factor on carpeting--especially with little ones around that might try to pull up or climb on it. No matter how closely they are watched, little ones will find a way to surprise you. I highly recommend this for non-carpeted floors! ... show more

This bookcase shipped quickly. It was very well packaged in a non-descript box. All pieces were in perfect shape. The box was kind of heavy for it's size. As I unpacked this bookcase in preparation to assemble it I noticed that all screws were packaged individually by size. Each package of screws was also labeled to identify which screw were inside. Then as I looked at the shelves I did my best to try to determine if they were solid wood or if they were particle board. I actually think they are solid wood planks! If they are particle board, well it is the best laminated particle board I have ever seen in my life. Very high quality shelves. Each shelf was also labeled to correspond with the assembly directions, which are very good and are illustrated. Every pre-drilled hole matched up perfectly! Very good, quality control! Included is also a strap and screw to secure the unit to the wall to prevent a tip over. Well thought out. Also included are the 2 wrenches need to screw in the screws and bolts. The entire unit is a bit smaller than what the pictures appear to make it look, but it is still a fairly good size. Not too high or short and not too wide or narrow. Perfect for a narrow blank space that needs filled in in my home. It took me about 15 minutes to casually assemble. I didn’t want this, but??? My wife thought we needed another bookshelf. She always thinks that. I thought to myself “That’s what we need, another flimsy, top heavy furniture item.” Wait a minute… this is made pretty sturdy! It’s not heavy, but it seems very stable, especially if you use the wall strap. It’s about 4 feet high and with the heaviest items at the bottom I’m not seeing it tipping. It’s made of something like wood. I usually like lighter colors, but this is a nice wood look and it matches other pieces we already have and like. It took me 30 minutes to assemble. Cheat disclaimer, I have a screw gun and I know how to use it gently. Hand cranking the allen wrenches would probably require more time. The hardware packets are lettered and the various shelves are numbered for easy identification. At first glance the instructions looked a little confusing but after doing one section, the rest is just duplication assembly line style. If you are happy with the design and price I can’t find any cons to getting this shelf. It would make a great gift for someone in an apartment where space is an issue. ... show more

This shelf was easy to put together- all the components were labeled, and instructions were easy to follow. All the pieces fit well together, and it took me about 30 minutes to connect and tighten everything. I used a power drill, instead of the included tools. The shelves are particle board with laminate veneer, so not too sturdy. Once assembled, it looks decent. You can set it horizontally or vertically. The shelf is rather narrow, and each shelf is open on three sides, so there's not much space for books. Placed horizontally, it has good stability; however, if you place it vertically unless you use the enclosed wall anchor, it might tip over. ... show more

My 13 year old son assembled it for me, and he had no prior experience with assembling furnitures. We just told him to check all materials are there then follow the instructions. And he was able to make it in a little more than an hour. The bookshelf is a beautiful combination of wood and black metal. Made from good quality and sturdy materials. It’s a great display stand for knick knacks and can easily slide into small spaces or corners. It is stable so long as you put the heavier stuff on the lowest shelf.
