Now I'm the type of person that doesn't like complicated instructions when putting something together. I've bought bookshelves from Walmart and Target in the past that have had absolutely terrible instructions... but this product was not like that!! This was SO easy to put together. The day I got this in the mail, my chronic pain was flaring, but even so, I was still able to put it together rapidly. The instructions were clear and it really does not require ANY tools of your own. It comes with an extra piece in case you want to nail it to your wall. I did not do this with mine and it has not tipped over. I've had it for 2 months now. My cat will rub up against it and it doesn't tip. I've even bumped into it and it doesn't tip. It's actually pretty sturdy, is what I'm trying to say. I have my heaviest items on the bottom, like books and board games, and on top I have my lighter items like my figurines and such. It looks really nice in my living room and I highly recommend it if you want an easy to put together shelf. ... show more

I am rating this 4 stars just because I see the product is really good, pretty too - even if with just plastic posts. Would have given it 5 stars, except that I was very disappointed when I opened it. If only the packing was done differently I would have a happy ending. If the foam was only protecting the most important part of this item, the shelves. Also, what I got looks like s previous returns due to the thickness of the packing tape. Too bad, I answered the survey right away... before I opened the box as 'Delivered with care.' NOT!!! TO THE MANUFACTURER/SHIPPER: please revisit how you package this item. It's probably better to cut the foam in half and protect both sides of your product. If you see the pictures attached - this is truly demolished! Here's to hoping not all your online order of this item ends up like mine. No fear, I am not returning it either. Returning it would be too much hassle for the price I got it. I considered this a bad investment & to never order any damageable items online again. It's a very expensive lesson emotionally & time (not for the price since it's only $24). ... show more

The good: Assembly: Probably the easiest shelves to assemble that I've had. They look decent if you don't look too closely. The price: You get what you pay for, which is a set of cheap shelves. Flexibility: I got two sets and made one set of 2 shelves and one set of 6 shelves. The bad: Not sturdy: These are wobbly, especially if your floor is tile or some other inherently uneven surface. Put something heavy-ish on the bottom. Looks cheap: Each shelf has a surface on only one side. If you're sitting down, you might be able to see the unfinished fiberboard on the bottom of the top shelf. For my 6-shelf variant, I put the top shelf on upside down, because it's above my eye level. Tether: You need a drill to put a hole in the wall for the retaining tether. It's a cheap hook and very thin cable. I'm not convinced it won't tear right back out of the wall. The worst: The Amazon description of this says each shelf supports *25* pounds. NOPE. The instructions included with it say *15* pounds for each shelf. For the 4-shelf set, that's 40 pounds of stuff you thought these could hold but should NOT be on the shelves. ... show more

We got 2 of the 3-shelf units when they were half price, and I am happy with the units, but very happy I did not pay more. The units are very well designed, and adequately, but cheaply, made. Several of my shelves had chips in the face, where drilling the holes had broken off parts of the facing. I needed to use touch-up pen to cover the broken areas. I was VERY pleased with the many color options available. We were able to get cherry to go with some more expensive furniture, and although the shelves are cheap, they are sturdy enough, and look fine. ... show more

Had it in two days, literally took 5 minutes to assemble, no tools and simple. We added it to a pantry closet for some needed extra shelving. It is perfect for an application such as this. We keep heavier item on the bottom shelves and lighter items at the top. It is perfect for lighter items and moderately stable. If you are looking to store heavy items (15lbs or more) and several of them, this product may not be the one for you. I've got a bit of a need to declutter and organize lately, so I purchased 2 of these shelves to help move stuff and make it look nice. So far, I don't really have a complaint other than my kitten climbing on top of it to play... and that's more of a "problem" for me. As long as you have a good spot to put it and don't overload it, you should be OK. On parts of mine you can spot some video games and movies, along with random extras. I have it against a wall, so I'm not too concerned about my things falling unless I bump it or my kitten knocks something over. ... show more

I've ordered several different pieces in this style and make, so I know what to expect in terms of sturdiness. The supports/columns are plastic (think very thick PVC pipes) and the shelves are thin particleboard. Because of this, this style of furniture is very lightweight and WILL wobble unless you put heavy items on the bottom and only light items on top, or place on carpet, or wedge it next to walls/other furniture. On the plus side, it's easy to assemble/disassemble and extremely portable. It's perfect for dorms, apartments, or when you just need some cheap shelving, but I wouldn't recommend it around toddlers or for heavy use. ... show more
