You can't expect much for the price, and it is what it is. Many moons ago we had similar bookshelves of this type for the kids that I didn’t have to put together. The directions are not that clear, low quality screws, some heads stripped out. I ended up using some of my wood screws. The back piece is thin folded cardboard with holes that didn’t match the hold in the back of the book case, I had to punch new hole to secure the thin cardboard to get a tight fit, I used some furniture tacks that I have. It has few chips on the finish edges. I’m using it in our laundry room for light storage, the top self is for temporary holdings. If I had planned to use it in the main part of our house, I would have returned it. Note: good luck on finding some of the hidden predrilled holes in the engineered wood, wood made by binding pieces of real wood, scrap wood, shredded wood fibers etc. ... show more

I got this just to have some extra storage space in my small room. I read the reviews beforehand, so i knew what to expect. It’s easy to assemble. Not capable of handling too much weight, nor the most sturdy, but if put together properly it will not move like some of the other reviews explain. The bottom part didn’t come out perfectly, due to some of the holes not being symmetrical. some of the screws are also cheaper quality, so you might mess the thread as you work it through the plywood. It’s a good deal for the price and you get a decent product if you put it together properly. ... show more

If you just need something to hold books, this works great. I would never buy it for a display piece, as it does have some gapping between pieces. Assembly was a bit of a hassle, I had to get my dad’s help to drive some of the screws (I’m a teenage girl BTW). The backboard I got was lightly stained and just barely too small to use the included pegs with, so I ended up using some 5/8 inch nails I had on hand. A third shelf would make it perfect for me. A lot of my books are small so I feel like there is a lot of dead space. In the end, it works great as an inexpensive storage unit, but if you want something for show, spend the extra dollar on something higher quality. ... show more
