I purchased two of these for my home office/game room. They were very affordable, and the color is nice. Additionally, they were easy to put together for the most part. That being said, they do seem a bit flimsy--the instruction manual itself says that each shelf can only hold 15lbs--so I would not want to use this for books or anything heavy. Additionally, as can be expected at this price, they're particle board, and several of the pieces don't line up particularly well. Also, one of the bottom pieces (labeled B) didn't have the holes marking where to attach the part that goes along the ground in the front (part C), and in the other package, one of the little plastic feet didn't have a nail in it. Overall, for the price and what I got them for, these are fine. I wouldn't put them in a living room or somewhere like that, nor would I put anything heavy (like books) on them, but for a home office, bedroom, or game room, these could be a decent option. ... show more

I seem to collect shelving. Mebbie it is due to my acquiring more and more DVDs and books. Now I stack shelving units on top of others. This model fits Ok in this jumble. Afraid that when assembling this bookcase, based upon my experience putting together these modular units, I found that there were some difficulties. Some pieces just didn't fit well, which required some finessing. All in all I am happy to have this additional space, it just wasn't very fun putting it together. ... show more

I was thinking the shelf would come pre-built, but I was incorrect. I am a great handyman, so I wasn't too worried. The instructions say that you need two people to build this, but I did it all by my lonesome just fine. The instructions kind of confused me at first until I started putting stuff together and then they were very understandable. It says to read all the instructions first before building, which I, of course, did not do. So, please do that and you will likely not have any confusion like I did. It took me very little time to put this shelf together and it looks very nice. It looks expensive and it is great quality for being such a low price. It is very sturdy, too. I didn't like that the particle board back was not shown to need to have nails put in there to stay put with the shelf backs because it looked flubby with the three slats just being set together and only secured with the nails around the outer edges. So, I just marked the particle board back with a sharpie pen where the shelf was and then stuck some flat pins in there to secure it in the back better and it looks great. The instructions say to use a rubber mallet, which I did not have, so I used a hammer. The small nails are easily bent with a hammer, hence the instructions saying to use a rubber mallet. If you use a hammer, just be very gentle with hitting those little nails in. I bent a couple into disrepair or else I would have used those to secure my particle board to the back of the shelves and not flat tacks. It’s not bad at all especially for price. I use it for books and it has been holding up pretty well, so far. The backing board was the only thing I wasn’t too thrilled about. It’s in 3 pieces instead of one large piece so nailing it to be taunt with no gaps can be a little pain. It’s under $35 so of course you are not gonna get top quality but if you’re on a budget, looking for something that will do and fairly attractive then it’s worth the $28 bucks to me. Just make sure when you putting it together that you doing it right as wood can splinter easily. It reminds me of the older ikea style bookcases. ... show more

I got a decent product for only twenty-two dollars. The only thing I didn't like was putting the screw into the side of shelf instead of it having resting clips. But for the price and what I needed this for, I can manage. So, the backing comes in three slim pieces. I took leftover contact paper, cut it into 2 strips to hold the three pieces together, then tacked it onto the back. I'm using my shelves for knick knacks only. If you plan to put anything on it (I read in one of the reviews it left a watermark) I would suggest you get matching contact paper or paint for the top shelf. ... show more
