Love at first sight!

I bought this open box but it came new! I absolutely love it! From reading previous reviews, I knew it was pretty small and would not hold the regular sized cube baskets, but I did not care since I was buying it for toddler books. We have a 2 year old book lover and books were all over the house. Toddler book shelves could not hold all we have and our library still growing. This worked perfectly! I even happened to have 2 boxes that fit in the shelf like they were meant for it. The shelf was easy to assemble, took about half an hour for 1 adult and 1 toddler. It is very sturdy and solid. Since it is not big, it is pretty low and there is no tipping hazard. The stickers to cover screws are a joke so we did not use them. Other than this, very very happy with this purchase and would not hesitate to get another one if needed.

They’re good, but not great

These were easy to put together and they look nice from a distance. They do the job. On close inspection they’re not very durable. While they have a good storage capacity I don’t think they’ll hold up to the weight of my books over time. I also dislike the visible screws. But, they’re working for me right now.

Very cute and fit perfectly between the foot of my bed and my computer desk, so it’s more for a snug space unless you have the room to keep it horizontal. I accidentally messed up with the directions (for part F, the backboard) so the cardboard kind of look is visible… it was also almost midnight when I was setting this up so that’s just my stupidity, lol. BUT!!! This is very stable and is my new bookshelf! It’s worth more than the price point. It doesn’t provide you with any materials to secure nails and screws, so be sure you have a screwdriver and hammer on hand! Once I got finished, it was sturdy and felt hardy. Highly recommend if you need a bookshelf or some extra storage and need something that isn’t too wide (unless you want it horizontal).

Pros: Quick and easy assembly Versatile layout, the shelf can sit vertically or horizontally Back panel is thick and slides into grooves instead of being nailed on Cons: Arrived dirty and damaged Cheep material Cubbies aren't basket friendly I bought this to put on a closet shelf for storage in my office. The size was good for what I was looking for (for anyone saying they were disappointed in the size, the dimensions are given both in the description and on a photo, so you shouldn't be surprised at all). It allows storage of papers and small office items and leaves room on either side for larger books/albums or other items. I was also looking for something that would allow for my ipad to be set up for when I'm using the treadmill which I keep in the closet. This fit that bill, but I wish it was a little better thought out. From delivery to installation on the closet shelf it will call home, it took me about 45 minutes to finish on my own. It's not hard and if you've ever put together a piece of furniture you really don't need the instructions at all. I installed it horizontally, which was another huge perk of this particular piece. The piece feels sturdy, although I did notice the wood under the vaneer is VERY cheep, so time will tell on that one. It also came both dirty and damaged. There was a small dent in one piece of wood. Luckily that piece goes in the back, so nobody will ever see it. I was surprised at how dirty it was though. Not the normal sawdust and packing material dirty, but won't wipe off black grimy scuffed dirty. I realize this is an inexpensive piece, but I've put together a lot of cheep furniture that was better thought out than this. The fact that you can't countersink the screws and they only give you stickers to cover them sucks. You can see every screw and they do stick out, so don't put anything against them that you don't want dented or scratched. The brackets they give you to put in the back corners are fine, but there are no pilot holes, so I decided to skip that step. For my use, the unit will be sturdy enough without them. Also, when I took the labels off, it took some of the finish off. Not enough to be noticeable when it's in place, but enough to be annoyed at the quality. I did like that the back panel was a thicker material that slid in instead of the flimsy cardboard you nail on, so two thumbs up there. The biggest disappointment is the size of the cubbies. I guess I should have done my research and realized there are no baskets that will fit the cubes well. An extra 1 1/2" in length and width would have allowed any small cloth cube basket to fit. I have a couple of ideas that might work ok, but that was disappointing and has taken longer than it should to come up with storage ideas. Overall, it's not bad for the price, especially for my use where it's only being used for storage in a closet and nobody will see it but me, but a little extra care from the manufacturer would have made it a 5 star item.
