  • Lovely Secret Santa Gift!
Style: Muse Bookstore
The media could not be loaded. This is a gift for a friend of mine. Her list said she loves turquoise, books, puzzles and arts and crafts. Hello, 4 in 1 present! I saw some reviews regarding damaged items but the packaging is such that you can open the box to inspect it before giving it to someone. This item arrived in great condition. Superficial dents on the box but that isn’t a problem. The package comes with all sorts things like little lights, stickers and trinkets. It seems very sturdy wood and well crafted. It looks fairly easy to assemble. This craft looks so cute, I will get one for myself to enjoy this winter season. ... show more

  • Great first book nook kit
Style: OWL Bookstore
For my first book nook, I thought this was a great kit. I purchased craft glue, and a hobby tool set separately, which I definitely needed to complete it. I found the books slightly difficult to put together smoothly, but they still turned out alright. The instructions were relatively clear, but there were some details that I thought could have been elaborated on. For example, the little pieces of PVC that were provided for the windows had a film on both sides that needed to be removed. This was not described in the instructions. I initially thought there had to be a film because of how cloudy they were, but when I couldn't seem to peel it away, believed it was meant to be translucent which led to frustration. Once it was all put together, I could not see into the front of it well. I ended up taking it apart to take the windows out due to this. Once removed, I was finally able to remove the film and put it back together again. The finished product looks very true to the pictures. It is so vibrant and cute on my bookshelf with my other books. Assembling the light also took me a moment to figure out. The pieces are well labeled and relatively organized. I didn't struggle to locate any of the pieces I needed and finished the entire thing in a couple of hours over the course of a couple of days. I thought this was a lot of fun and can't wait to buy another book nook to feed my crafting obsession. ... show more

  • Fun and easy directions
Style: Count Cat's Study
Be sure to buy a glue recommended by others here. Be sure to put together in order of directions. We’ve done a few of these and this one was good quality and fun.

  • Very fun. Great way to spend a few hours.
Style: Cooking Bookstore
This was fun to do. Took me about 3 hours. It is really cute. the lights work great. I think it was fun and would get some more. I have done another one by another company and it was a little better quality. This was great as well though. Worth the money.

  • Pleasantly Surprised!
Style: OWL Bookstore
The media could not be loaded. So I have always wanted one of these book nooks, but I was initially disappointed when I realized that you had to assemble them yourself. I love arts and crafts, but I hate puzzles, I hate tedious little tasks with small objects, and I hate having to assemble things with a set of directions. I do enough of that for practical purposes. Why would I want to do that for fun? However, the more I learned about them, the more intrigued I became about putting one together. I really enjoy listening to audiobooks and podcasts while I cook, etc. so I thought it might be fun to try it. I’m so glad I did! I listened to the 2016 BBC Radio drama reading of Jane Eyre, and went to work lol. This was my first book nook, and it took me about 4 to 4.5 hours to put it together. It was actually easier than I thought it would be, however I do have a few leftover pieces that I could never figure out where they went. Wherever they were supposed to go, it didn’t seem to matter much. If I had, had more spare time, I would have searched the instructions and sample pictures more carefully, but I had already spent 4 hours working on it, and was ready to get it finished. I will say, I’m a little disappointed that the outer structure is not made more durable. The whole thing is cardboard, and because you have to put it together, take it apart, and then put it together again to make sure all of the bigger pieces fit properly, it would be easy to hollow the little pieces of cardboard out that fit into the holes. It’s very delicate. Keep away from small children, if you want to keep it in one piece. I’m actually a little nervous about stacking books on either side of it. Recommendations: I learned the hard way that you definitely need to purchase some clear craft glue for it. I purchased white, and while it isn’t as visible once it dries, I still would have preferred to use clear glue, because I could have glued the pieces together more efficiently. Once you have most of it assembled, and are certain you won’t have to take it alert again to work on it, I would actually recommend some super glue, so it will hold better. I also purchased a pair of craft tweezers, but that was a waste, because I ended up not even needing to use them. I found the instruction booklet to be very colorful and easy to read, however. There were a few areas that were really confusing, and I ended up having to style it in my own way in a few places. It still looked nice, but I wish the instructions had been a little more clear. All in all, I definitely recommend it! ... show more

  • Charming, a little challenging, but so fun!
Style: The Scholar's Bookstore
The media could not be loaded. Charming little book nook and the first one I’ve ever assembled. I was a little apprehensive at first because 1) I’ve never built something with so many pieces and 2) first instructions were mostly in Chinese. But the process wasn’t too terrible. You need to be careful popping the pieces out of the boards they are in but for the most part, I was impressed with their sturdiness. You will need glue for some of the steps as well. Overall, there were only 5 or 6 steps that took some manipulating but the rest came together fairly easily. One tip I have: use something to help make the connection spots a tiny bit wider for easier assembly. I used a small wooden skewer to just gently “open up” the cut out slots for some tiny adjoining pieces. It helped tremendously. I got so into this I put it all together in one sitting, taking about 4 hours total (with a couple of breaks). Now I want to try another one! They look so good in my library nestled in my books. ... show more
