Gorgeous, gorgeous tote. As always, Frye quality is fantastic and the style is on point. It's a great size, not too gigantic but big enough to be super useful for daily use as well as travel. I fly often to DC and this fits so much, including my 13" MacBook. I love that there are two compartments so it's more organized and love that it stands up on its own. I have always liked how Frye purses have the clip inside for the keys so they are easy to find and grab. I also like how the middle zippered divider is so sturdy and padded. The inside cloth pouches are pretty small. I would usually put my phone there but it's too small for my phone and my phone isn't very big --just an iPhone 12 mini. I just put my phone in the padded middle divider and that works fine. I do wish the color was a little lighter or there was a color option à little lighter for the Spring /Summer color but it's good enough. It's just so beautiful and I love the style. My new favorite purse for sure and it will last and last like all the Frye products I have. It's expensive but worth it. No regrets. I also wish the straps were a little flatter and I hope they wear well but the handle length is great. I am petite, 5'1" and I don't feel it's too big. I can have it over the shoulder or just on my arm. Highly, highly recommend. The packaging was amazing. Every part wrapped and padded with extreme care and comes with a nice quality bag for storage and traveling. Sometimes I just sit and stare at it. It's so pretty! ... show more

I bought this bag for a 2 week trip we were taking to hold all my “extras” and a clutch. It was perfect! The leather quality is excellent and the color perfect match for my clutch. So many can look orange but this was a nice cognac color. The strap length was just right to wear on my shoulder. The extra compartments inside were nice to organize small items for easy access. It came with it’s on cloth storage bag and a nice note from the company. Impressive bag and would recommend! Originally I had purchased a Frye Melissa tote which was beautiful but sent it back as it was too small and was really a purse not a tote do I sent it back. So glad I did as this Berliner bag was exactly what I was looking for and a better price! ... show more

UPDATE: I ordered another exact Frye tote hoping it would be better and it was! It was packaged great and had protective pieces on the purse. It also had a lot more paper stuffing inside AND A FRYE FELT COVER BAG! This purse was brand new. The last one I received had been clearly used by the previous Amazon customer and then returned it and they decided to keep the felt bag too. So frustrating when that happens. Stealing! Anyways, I love this purse and will definitely be keeping it! LOVE! I also attached pictures of the 2nd purse. I should’ve taken pics of the first one but I wanted to box that one up fast! Original Review: I own the Melissa satchel handbag in Slate and wanted a bigger size so I ordered the melissa tote in slate. (Which btw, I love the slate color! Perfect !) I received it today and as soon as opened the box I was very disappointed. it looked as if someone carried it for a few weeks and decided to return it. The tag was in the inside so it very well could have been used and then returned! There was just a small amount of paper stuffing in the purse and there were scratches all over the outside. I understand it gets scuffed easily as I have carried a Frye purse for over a year but this didn’t look like a new Frye purse. I was also expecting the nice felt Frye cover bag but it was not there! I bought my other purse at Dillard’s so I don’t know if the felt bag is just something you get with department/Frye stores so if you are expecting that you won’t get it here! I boxed it up only after opening it a mere 5 minutes before, I’ll be returning the purse. I love the purse! Just not the used one I received.... 😒 ... show more

    • JUMP IN, THE WATER'S FINE!
Well..I did it! I ordered this beautiful bag. I am still choking on the price as even though I like a good quality bag..this was over the top for me. It came yesterday and this is not my first Frye bag..but it's going to be the one I use all the time I suspect. It's large and yes, heavy but not enough to put me off. I bought another Frye bag and sent it back due to how heavy it was. NOT this time. Frye bags do not collapse on you either. The one I was using lay in a heap on the floor, no structure. I wanted structure but not to the point of being stiff and rigid. This is nice soft leather.. One person said one of her handles on her bag pulled loose. It would take a tractor to pull the handles off these bags. Very interesting. Yep...no big surprises..just nice organizaton...oh..and I really liked that soft pouch in the center where you can drop your cell phone or anything you do not want scratched, or broken..like a mirror.. OR to keep sticky fingers from reaching. Yep..Love it! Thanks Frye. Great work!! ... show more

This is the third Frye bag I've tried in my quest for The One Perfect Handbag, and (spoiler!) I'm afraid I'm still looking. I have heard nothing but amazing things about the Frye products, and particularly the quality of the leather, and I'm happy to say that this Melissa Tote is very true to all that. I purchased the Cognac color and, oh, that wonderful leather scent appeared as soon as I pulled it from the box. Cognac in person was a lighter and brighter color than it look online. I did not care for how the lighter color seemed to pull out the western design stylings -- I'm not a western-style girl, and the Dark Brown or Slate color might have given me the subtle, downplayed style vibe I would have preferred. I liked the heavy oiled leather; I didn't like the weathered appearance right out of the box. And where are the little brass feet that should be at the bottom of the bag? Other Frye styles have them; why doesn't Melissa? grumble. Unfortunately, this is not the perfect bag for me -- and with the $$$ price tag it commands, this bag dang well ought to be perfect. It’s a fake. Not a real Frye. I returned it. The lining is not what Frye uses, the handbags stinks smells very chemical n can u say HEAVY!! Believe other honest reviews. Do not buy. I have posted several positive reviews when it’s a good product that’s worthy!! It looks like polyurethane material to me not, real leather and I’m a farm girl you can’t fool me on REAL Genuine leather or the cows they came from. Buyer Beware! I was so excited to receive this. I even called Frye corporation to verify the real signature handbags versus a fake. I did my homework before returning it. Yes I got a refund. God is good. ... show more

    • Best purse I've had in years. So soft and it has POCKETS.
I love my new purse. I love it so much I want to buy more of them in case this one goes off. The leather is so pettable and soft. This feels like the dream of what a good leather purse would feel like. Not paper thin, but sturdy and soft. The color (wine) is deep and perfect, somewhere between wine and cordovan. It's a little more brown than purple, and hits a great sweet spot in that "I can wear it with black, navy or brown" area. One of the best things about this purse is that it isn't just an open vast bucket with two open side pockets and a zipper pocket like 90% of the purses out right now. No my friend, this thing has those AND a center divider with an additional zipper pocket. This central zipper pocket is even padded. It's the perfect spot for my kindle and phone which nestle in, protected and easy to find. Fantastic. The drop is good, an inch more would make me even happier, but this is good.
