Description

A squared toe and brushed-metal harness detail lend rough-and-ready charm to this supple leather boot. The Harness boot from Frye is a classic with some seriously rugged character. The quality leather complements the look of its timeless shape, while the studded leather strap at the ankle provides a hint of urban style. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection. See more

  • These are authentic Frye
Size: 7 Color: Smoke
I had the exact boot which I bought from Frye. Was lost in a move. Ordered these on Amazon and they are authentic and exactly like my other pair of Harness boots. They come a little tight in the toe box (like my originals.) The real leather stretches well and quickly either with a thick sock or a boot stretcher for a few hours. I have arthritis and bunions and they are comfy once worn. Don't hesitate with worry whether they are the real thing. ... show more

  • Happy Birthday to Me
I heard once that if a pair of shoes isn't comfortable the minute you put them on your feet, they're never going to be. That the "breaking in" process doesn't really exist. I'm not sure whether I subscribe to that, but I will say that these boots were comfy from the first minute I put them on. That being said, it took a while to actually get them on. I can not wear socks with them; the friction of the sock rubbing against the suede interior creates a problem that can only be fixed (in my case at least) with naked feet. I think a trouser sock may work, but I don't have any to test that theory on. Also- I bought the distressed brown, love the color, but it's not nearly as dark as the picture would let you think. It looks more like the color 'tan' on the site. I'm extremely happy, but I want to make note of the color differences between reality and photography. It's extreme in this case. The distressed portion of the boot seems to be mainly in the shaft, it's very supple. The remainder of the boot looks, and is, much less flexible which I believe contributed to my having difficulty getting them on. There are reviews out there that state that there's plenty of room to tuck in skinny jeans, "and that's saying something because I have large calves". I was excited to read this because I too have large calves. I do not, however think there will be enough room to tuck in skinny jeans. I wore them last night with leggings, and that worked, but I'm skeptical about there being enough room for denim in my case. Word to the wise- MEASURE your calf before you order. The shaft height seems to begin at the top of the foot, 12" from the ankle is the top of the boot. Measure if 12" from your ankle and measure around your leg. If it's 16" or under, you're golden. Otherwise, these are going to scrunch a little. But I think that'd still be cute, because these boots are so gorgeous. I usually wear a 10, I bought a 10. I'd tried these on in a shoe store before buying on Amazon and found out that I can't get the 9.5 on (remember how hard it was to get the 10 on), I agree with the other reviewers that a half size smaller than normal size would probably fit better, but I know that for me personally I'd never be able to get them on to find out whether I'm right. So- with all that being said, if you love them and you've been lusting after them for years like I had been, rest assured that you're making a good purchase. You truly will love your Frye boots. ... show more

  • My second pair
I had my first pair of Frye boots for over forty years. This is my second pair to love as the first finally died. Very good value considering the cost at the Frye website.

  • Durable, Valuable, But Not the Most Comfortable
Size: 8 Color: Black
I bought these boots after spending a long time researching and considering which style and size to get. I usually wear a size 8.5 but ordered a size 8 because so many people reported that this boot runs large, and I'm glad I did - the fit feels pretty close to perfect. As with almost any type of leather boot, this pair needed to be broken in. I wore thick socks with them and wore them around the house a lot, and managed to escape most of the blisters and cuts that way. The leather of these boots is really gorgeous and high-quality. It smells wonderful and seems to be sturdy and durable. I've been treating it periodically with Dr Martens Wonder Balsam because it's very snowy here currently and I don't want to get water stains or salt stains on my boots. They take to the Wonder Balsam very well. My main complaint about these boots is that the soles just aren't comfortable. They're slightly padded and have a little bit of give to them, but it just isn't enough. Even now that the rest of the boot is pretty well broken-in, the soles still feel uncomfortable if I'm doing a lot of walking or standing. I put in some foam Dr Scholls insoles, which helped a little, but I think I'm going to have to get some even more cushiony gel insoles in order to really make these boots comfortable. I also find that the boot rubs uncomfortably against the inner side of my left foot, often leaving that spot sore, but I think this may just be an issue of the shape of my feet rather than the boots themselves. Overall, I'd say, if you're looking for a pair of boots that are durable and will be able to last through even Canadian winters, these are probably a good choice. Just be aware that they might not be the most comfortable boots out there, and they might require some additional insoles to make them wearable for long stretches of time. ... show more
