Description

The Frye Company For more than 153 years, Frye craftsmen have been dedicated to the art of shoemaking, creating modern patterns, discovering materials and even inventing machinery. Rooted in authentic American heritage, The Frye Company uses the best leathers, designs and innovations in the pursuit of timeless, artisanal style. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When homesteading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection. Frye’s mission, to make iconic leather goods that endure, has remained unchanged throughout its storied history. Campus 14L An American symbol of rebellion and freedom, The Campus 14L is our quintessential icon. Crafted from our signature crunch leather, these knee high boots are well-known both on and off campus. The handcrafted silhouette and chunky toe paired with a stacked heel will get you to your destination, come rain or shine. Made in USA and sourced from domestic and imported products. The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. • Superb quality
Size: 7.5 Color: Black - Greasy Leather
I have always wanted a pair of Frye boots. I got them yesterday, wore them to work today, and these boots got noticed. I read the reviews, which was helpful deciding what size to order. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8. Because it was said they run a little large, I ordered the 7.5, and they are perfect, with a little room to spare. That is good, because the leather is quite sturdy, not much give, so you don't want them too small. Right out of the box, I found them to be very comfortable, all day. I don't think there is any chance of wearing them out, and they will only get better over time. Classic style that will never grow old. The boot shaft is narrow. Plenty of room for my calf, but can only wear over thin jeans, or leggings. Won't accommodate anything thicker than that. A woman with generous legs may want to look into another style. Overall, I love the boots. ... show more

  • Beautiful Boots update
Size: 6.5 Color: Black - Greasy Leather
I have a 10 pairs of Frye boots and have always wanted a pair of the campus.,so I did it. I purchased my true size and they are pretty stiff but exceptionally made. True Frye with the stitching, wonderful construction and delicious leather smell. It will take some effort to break in but willing to put in the work for these beauties. I have about an 1 1/4 at toe box of room and the width I would say is true to normal. You will need to go to cobbler to PNW them from the wetness but I have done this to all my shoes from Frye and they all are in immaculate condition. So do it . I purchased to blk and I love them. The seller Outdoor Equiped had them to me 4 days early and the boots were packaged great . I trust this seller .Now I’m gonna be new boot goofin 😜 ... show more

  • Disgusted!
Size: 7 Color: Banana - Montana Leather
The boot arrived and were not in original packaging. We opened the box and the boots didn’t look to have been worn but might have been a display model because one boot had a small discoloration due to a possible scuff and also small stain. When we went to checked out the Frye website to compare the boots, the boots we received did not entirely match what they looked like on the Frye website. Not saying they were dupes but it sure made us question things. We have returned the product and waiting on a refund. If they weren’t going to be in original packaging or were a display model, it should’ve been noted in the description. Buyer beware! ... show more

  • Still the Hottest Boot 40 years later...All feet deserve Frye Boots! Campus 14L Saddle 9
Size: 9 Color: Saddle - Montana Leather
Best boots on the planet. If you know the history of Frye (from 1863 to now) you'll understand. My ancestors (1898) wore Frye boots, as well as my grandfather in WW2, (Jet Boots). They have a long history in the US and millions of miles have been walked in their boots over all the others. In the 60's and 70's the campus Frye boot was the only boot everyone had to have. If you think about all the walking, rough riding on horses, and traveling by foot it suddenly dawns on you why Frye?...Because they are the best in the world. Frye boots walked us right into the future with great comfort, and long lasting boots. Frye is the one and only boot company in business steadily from then to now, they are the Midas of boots, and the company works within very high standards. Our organization loves Frye Company, and all their artistic boots, shoes, sandals and more. They are the master artists of foot wear for sure. (I will update this review when we receive the next pair ordered-waiting... UPDATE: July 8, 2015. Campus 14L Saddle (size 9) arrived in 8 days fedex smartpost, through the USPS. They are "true to size" and are actually narrow. Wide feet should order C-E if they have it. The boots are perfect, but need to be broken in. Very snug in toe and top of foot area. Definitely could use a stretcher. Leather is thick, the grain is nice. Wearing them warms them to your feet and starts the natural stretching. I do wear orthotics and I walk better with them. These boots prevent me from hobbling myself without too much of a heel. Very comfy and durable -will last a very long time. Cannot go wrong with FRYE, and they are indeed Made In The USA! Yay! ... show more

  • Narrow opening into the foot bed of this boot.
Size: 8.5 Wide Calf Color: Saddle - Wide Calf
These boots are beautiful and a great quality. I did order the extra wide calf. The calf section did appear to be wide enough however I could NOT get my foot down in the boot. I do not have an extremely high arch, but the opening from the calf shaft into the foot bed is super narrow. Unfortunately, I had to return. ... show more

  • Lovely leather, not my style
Not in love with these boots- the leather is very nice and the shoe fit is good. They're comfortable. But- they're a little more cowboy boot than I'd like. The calf is just too straight and hits at the widest point of my calf, making them look wider. I usually like my boot a bit tighter (to blend better with my actual leg to give an illusion of length) or a bit looser (to draw attention to the boot and to make my leg look smaller than the boot), but this boot sort of comes with built in cankles and hits at an unfortunate place on my calf, bringing attention to the widest spot on my calf . I'm 5"1, so perhaps this boot would work better on a taller person. Also, the stitching at the top of the boot is itchy and is probably going to leave a rug burn- so you have to wear boot socks with these- not a problem I've had with any of my other boots. The first few times I put them on/took them off was WORK. I did the plastic bag trick (google it- use a crinkly bag else you're pulling pieces of plastic out of your shoe all day), but they get easier to get on and off. They run large- I normally wear a 6.5, but like a larger shoe b/c my toes get claustrophobic (don't ask), and ordered a 6.5 and they fit well. In all, lovely boot- just not my style and a lil itchy at the top. I would ... show more

  • Received with No Box Update
Size: 8.5 Color: Banana - Montana Leather
Update: Returned and ordered an 8. Came with box this time. The 8.5 was a Made in USA with pull tabs and the 8 is Made in Mexico. I prefer the fit of the 8 and don’t need the pull tabs so keeping them. The leather is more marbled in the size 8. My calf circumference is 14.25-14.5 and I have room for jeans and socks. I ordered these in an 8.5 and they are a little big. I have Fryes in both 8 and 8.5 so this isn’t a big deal to return and get an 8. The bigger issue I have is the boots arriving without a box, with generic inserts, and just wrapped in plastic. Is this normal? For $500 boots, I keep them in the box when not in use and have never not received a box. ... show more
