Description

Set in the mid-1990s, and inspired by a true story, FRESH OFF THE BOAT stars Hudson Yang as 11-year-old, hip-hop-loving Eddie Huang, who, with his family, is adjusting to a new life in suburban Orlando. Faced with new schools, new friends, new neighbors and new traditions the Huangs stay true to their family values as they pursue the American Dream. Dad Louis (Randall Park) moved his family from Chinatown in Washington, D.C., and turned the once-struggling Cattleman's Ranch into a successful steakhouse, fully equipped with a mechanical bull. Mom Jessica (Constance Wu) is a real estate agent, yet still finds time to bond with the neighbor over cocktails and Stephen King novels. Meanwhile, Eddie sometimes defies his mother's old-school parenting, but realizes she's got nothing but love for him and his brothers Emery (Forrest Wheeler) and Evan (Ian Chen).

  • Off to a hilarious start
The first season was genius. Every Asian-American will find something to commiserate with and laugh about in this series. The second season picks up where it left off. In a broader sense, it encapsulates the trials and travails of any family moving into a strange new neighborhood. The casting is perfect, the writers are still hammering out great one-liners. Should you miss watching this? Hell no! ... show more

Still enjoying this series. It makes me laugh. It's refreshing, and the writers and actors gave it a real heart. I particularly get a big kick out of the actors' interpretations of the parents' personalities. The sometimes 2-D representations of 'white people' give me an experiential understanding of how my friends have experienced the same with American TV and movies for years. ... show more

  • Hilarious wholesome fun!
What a great show! Great actors with terrific comedic timing, lovable characters, and poinient resolutions. So refreshing to watch a show with a close loving family without the typical dysfunction for cheap laughs. I genuinely laugh out loud every time I watch this show. Highly recommended!

At first i thought it was going to be a boring show but it turns out to be hilarious and amazingly good . It brought back memories of me as a kid growing up in the 90's.
