I came up with a crazy idea to create a digital Etch A Sketch using a screen like this and 2 rotary encoder knobs, decided to use a Cheap Yellow Display (CYD) because it seemed to have everything I would need in one little package, screen, onboard ESP32 for brain, included micro SD card if I wanted to save drawings, etc. I started with a 2.8 board I bought back in 2023, but ran into issues getting enough clean connections to the 3 control pins on both encoder knobs, this board had just enough to get everything working (after much trial and error) and at 4", it is one of the largest in this class. Also, price on Amazon was very competitive if not lower than other sites. I highly recommend this board if your project involves more than just using the screen, if you need to add sensors, etc. ... show more

Really nice board. Im greatly enjoying using it and the tutorials are great! However, I dont understand why the board has 3 2-pin jst connections, but the product only comes with 1 2-pin cable. This is super inconvenient as now I need to get additional jst connectors for my project. Outside of that, works great. If you need all of the IO however, make sure you get some 1.25mm jst connectors / cables. ... show more

way too many steps to get it connected, it's a pain in the rear, I purchased the other nerd miner the only thing to do is plug and play, this is not the case with this junk. the other one had a plastic case this comes with no case I will be sending this trash back.

I bought this ESP32 display to experiment with making my own little gadgets, and it’s been a blast. Everything you need is right on the board- a fast ESP32 chip, a bright 4-inch screen, and tons of ports for adding extras. It even has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in, so you can connect it to other devices or the internet. The screen is colorful and clear, and the touch works well with the included stylus (it’s a “resistive” touch screen, so it works better with a bit of pressure instead of just a fingertip). Getting started was simple: I plugged it into my computer with the included USB-C cable, installed the driver and programming software, and I was ready to go. The online tutorials and example projects made it easy to load my first app and see the screen come to life. I bought it as a convenient single-board module with everything I needed. Not for mining purposes. The SD card and the display are on the SPI bus, which turned out to be a problem for me.
