Ordered these based on Amazon reviews. I agreed that I miss the padding around the top like combat boots and am learning to like the lace metal loop to lace boots up. Miss the hook method. With that being said, I measured as indicated by seller and ordered that size. It was the correct size. These wear well so far and felt comfortable. So far wore them working on landscaping in dirt and wet conditions- feet stayed dry. I don’t take it easy on footwear and these have kept up with me. We will see when hiking and camping. Barring the lacing method, I really like these so far. Price was excellent for the quality I am seeing. Would recommend highly.

Use this around the property to replace some boots from my USMC time. This is a far cry from the Bates hot weather boots I’m used to, but it is also a far cry from the price. Sizes do run large/wide. I originally ordered my regular size and my foot was sliding around all over inside. Reordered a half size smaller, and it is a great fit. Personally, I'm a big fan of the lack of zipper fitment. I’ve never been a fan of that kind of securing system. These breathe well, but the one real piece that is missing in my opinion is the collar padding. Military boots in general left the stiff webbing collar in favor of the padded collar years ago as it helped with a lot of issues. It would be good to get that last touch for these.

These are THE BEST boots I've every owned. And that's saying something coming from a long-time Timberland fanatic. They're even better because they're combat boots. Very cool, tactical style. Comfortable, lightweight and water-resistant.

These boots have been comfortable from the first time I put them on. They're not loose around the leg like others claim and there's more room to make them tighter if I wanted. Had my first day of milsim use with then and I did not rush home to take them off, they're still on while writing this review. During play it didn't feel like I had a brand new pair of combat boots on at all. The leather is sturdy enough to withstand a direct fire shot at 1.8joules, not even a dent in the leather. I will be purchasing more of these boots in other colors too. Only complaint I have is there seems to be an excessive amount of extra material along the tongue, it can bunch up if you don't take a extra second to make sure it folds right after you put it on. No water on the field today to test the waterproofing.

Just put my boots on for the first time, out of the box OMG Soooo comfortable. I am 68 and for over 50 years have had to have Very light, Very soft heel, and prefer waterproof. So far 2 out 3 are GREAT. Iv'e had many brands and types of boots and not easy to please. Every time i find what i want and they work real well they stop making em. I have had a few with zippers, and for some odd reason Bates can't figure out that ya don't use a FINE zipper. Had 2 pair (cuz one was defective and they had me keep em) in a row, the absolute WORST boots ever. I have issues getting them on, but I got these without zips and love them. Easy on, could be D rings (my favorite) and do one easy tug but i'll get used to these. Oh, laces are to short to wrap around, and to long not to. Not complaining, might get second pair in a few weeks in case they stop making these. :)

Wore these on a hiking trip. They’re comfortable, affordable, and look great. The only caveat is that they are not waterproof like advertised. I had the tongue and laces tightened up high and when I stepped in water, my foot got soaked.

I bought these a few months ago for my OCPs, since the issued boots are apparently terrible. I can't say I have ever been as happy with a purchase as with these. I took these on an AFSPECWAR extended training day in upstate NY, where we rucked for hours in a lovely combination of rain, snow, and hail. Not only were my feet completely comfortable -- no blisters, rubbing, etc. -- they stayed completely dry and warm the entire time. There were points where I was not just walking, but *standing* in freezing water up to my ankles, and my feet weren't even cold, much less wet. Oftentimes, waterproof boots can be a pain in the heat because your feet get sweaty, but I've never had a problem with these, even when running and exerting myself, in the cold or in the heat. When we finished with our scenario, we had to wait around in the snow for a half an hour because the vans that were going to take us back got stuck in the snow, and all of my teammates said their toes were completely numb. But not me! Despite the boots being wet and me standing in ankle-deep snow, my feet felt great. We did PT in our OCPs too, which can be a pain because boots are generally horrible to run in, but they never tripped me up or caused me any discomfort at all. I walk a dog with separation anxiety who sometimes attacks your feet when you try to leave, and whereas my other shoes have gotten holes and tears from his teeth, these ones hold up just fine. There's a few small scratches on the toe but it's barely even noticeable. In short, these are the best boots I've ever owned and I highly recommend them if you need durable, waterproof shoes for anything.
