I've recently taken up acrylic painting so I need to do a lot of practice if I'm going to get better. I tried using acrylic paper & mixed media paper to practice and study on but it wasn't translating to my paintings (the paper responds differently than canvas and the methods I could do on the paper wouldn't work the same for me on the canvas). These canvas books are NICE! I like the canvas and paint right in the book with the cover folded over the back. The canvas isn't too toothy so I can create realistic effects and blend easily. Once the painting dries I just move to the next page. I like that I'm able to practice a subject on canvas and a lower cost and these finished "paintings" aren't taking up a lot of space. I've used separate canvas pads for different subjects so I now have a book of ocean scenes and one of forest scenes that I can look back through as I'm planning a painting. Definitely worth the price for me and these are working out great for practice and space issues I have. If I did complete a painting on this and really loved it - I could put it right into a frame if I wanted. I haven't done that because I like to look through the books and it is an easy way to share some of my work with others and get feedback without having to lug a bunch of framed canvas around.

THis is a true canvas in pax form. Not paper canvas, but actual canvas. I haven’t actually painted on it yet but I took the time to pet it, smell it and admire its texture and it seems to be great for what I will be using it for. I’ll post an update but I’m going to try and run it thru my inkjet printer to see what happens. My idea is to create a four panel wall art masterpiece using wood but wanted some canvas on each one using a Mandela I designed. Printing the design on one sheet of canvas then painting it, cutting it into fours and adhering it to four pieces of wood.. going with the boho / farmhouse theme. I’ll post an update if I’m able to run this thru the printer but the canvas itself seems good enough to create wall art, not sure about professional but works for general crafting

This is a nicely textured canvas pad that allows me to paint even when I'm on the road traveling. I use it with acrylic paints and it works great. The pads of nice, thick sheets come in various sizes. You just peel them off as you would any paper tablet. I like the 8 x 10 size because it fits nicely into my overnight bag and the sheets clip to a standard sized clip board. These are great for plein air painting (outdoors) because they are so portable. Great for students or even experienced artists when you are just "dabbling" and aren't ready to invest in a more expensive canvas. They can be matted and framed as well and seem to hold up nicely. Bought this just to try different brands for my new painting hobby. Lets just say I will not buy the paper pads ever again, even if they are made for acrylic paints. This pad contains real sheets of canvas. Painting on canvas is tons easier than using paper that tends to absorb the painting somewhat. Especially when trying to blend over a large surface (like a sky). Another plus is they're totally affordable. Will buy these again and again!!

I wanted to like this product for its supposed ease of use. The idea of being able to oil paint on a whim without the mess of gessoing my own surfaces was appealing. However, like most too good to be true products, this fell quite short. The gesso used to coat the pre-cut canvas is really crappy and very shiny with no tooth to hold the paint. Meaning, that even when dry, the paintings are EASILY scratched and it takes the paint off. I tested this and my regular surfaces by very gently running a fingernail across the edge. The paint on this surface easily comes off to reveal the white gesso beneath. Using the same pressure on my regular surfaces, nothing comes off. I'll be flipping the remainder of these to the back and priming the bare side with a higher-quality gesso. I would not recommend this product unless you aren't concerned about your paintings surviving the test of time and life or you're willing to gesso the back with a far better product.

I love using the Fredrix pads. This size is a bit small, I prefer the 12x16. I am still learning to paint and these are cheap! I also like that you can just stack your paintings into a pile. Makes for easy storage and transport. I tear out each canvas and tape off the boarders to my painting board. If you are new, make sure you paint the correct side of the canvas.

The photo is a work in progress. I had never worked on this type of medium before. I was surprised that it actually IS canvas! I was expecting something more paper-like, so that was a pleasant surprise. Excellent price, too. Perfect size for painting class.
