Very often the cans arrive very dented and that makes the oil taste metallic. The plastic or epoxy lining on the inside of the can might crack when dented. I will not be buying this olive oil again. The less convenient but I prefer the 3 liter Iliada 100% kalamata PDO kosher certified Greek olive oil.

I have purchased Frankies 457 Spuntino Extra Virgin Olive Oil twice in the last year and have been pleased with the flavor and quality of this oil. I use it primarily as a finishing oil on dishes and salads and it adds that certain rich flavor and accent that makes it our go to oil now in our home.

For me, it's always tough to find a very flavorful olive oil on Amazon. I go through a ton of reviews and look at olive oils from around the Mediterranean and still end up with nothing that has some extra flavor to it. I like the grassy, slightly spicy flavor that you can find when you visit Italy, but why is it so difficult to get it on Amazon? I've tried unfiltered ones and organic ones... I see reviews for this one raving about it's deep flavor but it tasted extremely light. I had a friend come over, and in a taste taste against other olive oils I purchased through Amazon over the last year, he said they all tasted more like Canola oil! And he was right!! I would avoid this one unless you are fine with an overpriced plain tasting olive oil.

I go through so much olive oil and I think this is one of the best at any price, and there are some very expensive olive oils out there! As far as I know they exclusively use olives grown in Sicily. If I’m wrong about that set me straight.

I saw one of my favorite cooks using this the other day and thought I’d give it a try. I’m pretty picky when it comes to olive oil as there are so many that are either not true or way to spicy in flavor. My go-to has always been Frantoia but that has now changed! Frankie’s 457 has the most beautiful flavor. Fresh, fruity with the slightest spice in the finish. Perfect drizzled on burrata (my fav), salads, crostini, etc. I won’t use anything else!!!
