Nov 25, 2025 Update: I just purchased these in 9-1/2 wide in the brown... A slightly different (lighter) shade of brown was sent to me than I ordered, but that's okay, I'll make it work. (when I looked back online, they're pretty much out of stock, so I'm guessing they sent me what they could in my size) The secret to zipping these boots is to hold your leg up towards the ceiling and zip them up. Very comfortable and well made! LOVE them - my second pair! Original post when I bought the black boots last year: This is a very well made boot. High quality leather and great workmanship. I liked (and very much appreciated) the good price on these, especially for such a good quality boot. I ordered the 9 1/2-Wide. I have one other pair of Franco Sarto shoes and while I don't necessarily have a wide foot, find this brand can run narrow. The boot is very comfortable all day. As mentioned in some reviews about the zipper being a little persnickety, I sit to put them on, then I tilt my leg upwards and zip them up that way. They zip up like a dream (but admittedly took a little getting use to with a full back zipper on a riding boot)! Easy on/off. Also, I am 5' 10-1/2" and these come right up to my knee cap, so they may not fit as comfortably on a petite lady. Amazing quality at a good price! Beautiful real leather. Well sewn- not glued! Style and comfortable. I have a hard time finding wide width and wide calf tall boots. These are perfect and could wear with jeans or skirt.

When did all the boots become so tall that you cannot sit comfortably in them? I never had this problem until recently. I bought these boots and I liked everything about them except for about an inch too tall.

    • Impossible Zipper with a Medium Calf Width
Size: 9 Color: Light Brown Wide Calf
These boots are beautiful (color matches photo; leather is soft; design is trendy and cute; no smell right out of the box), but I awarded them 3 stars (and returned them) for two reasons: 1) the zipper is impossible to zip (especially at the ankle where there is more fabric, in part because of the zipper location--if it was on the inside, there might not be so much folded leather!), and 1) the calf size does not meet wide-calf standards (i.e., width is typically measured from a size 6 and then incrementally increases in half sizes--I wear a 9, and the calf width measured the same as a size 6, listed on the site--I even checked the Franco Sarto website for clarification on this). Super disappointing because I really wanted to love these boots! ... show more

I did not receive the color I ordered (light brown), but instead received the much lighter tan color. Nevertheless, the boots are a very nice leather. The zipper is a bit tough to get up over the heel and requires you to be soft handed when zipping and unzipping, so that you do not damage the zipper itself. You also need to be conscious of material getting in the zipper. However, the boot is very cute and well-made. I have a wide calf and ordered the black in “wide calf” and the light brown in the regular width. The regular width is snug and the wide calf was just too wide for me, and I am returning and have ordered them in the regular width. For reference, I am 5’8” and wear size 8, these boots land right below my knee. The foot bed is comfortable and see these easily worn throughout a day without hurting my feet. I gave 4 stars only because I did not receive the color I ordered. Not sure if this was the fault of Amazon or manufacturer. Since my first review I ordered the Dark Brown in size 8. Worried that if I ordered the Light Brown like I actually want I would receive the light tan again anyway, so Dark Brown. They came in a plastic bag, instead of packed/stuffed and in their original storage box. Very disappointing, scuffed, and giving the feeling that they are used. I paid for “new” boots. The boots are well-made and nice leather; the only issue with the boot itself is the zipper being a little tough to navigate up and down in the heel area. Be patient and take care when zipping and unzipping and these boots should last you years. Still only five stars for lack of care in packaging. ... show more

These are beautiful and exactly what I was looking for! I ordered a size 6.5 since that’s my typical show size. That said, they were a little tight on the top of my foot and I struggled a bit to pull the zipper. BUT, they are real leather so they will stretch and after wearing them for one day, I wouldn’t change a thing. Perfect fit around my calf and I would say I have average size calf’s at 5’4” in height. (I’m an athlete, and don’t have muscular calf’s, but some reviews are saying they have narrow calf’s and they were too big. Not so for me!!) The feel is very soft leather, so easy to put on and off with the back zipper. I will wear these when dressed casual or dressed up. So happy they went on sale at 40% off! Oh and by the way, they are made in China. Inside the bouts it says they’re made in India. ... show more

I love these boots, they're a great value - thick soft leather, heavy duty metal zippers, definitely made to last. The calf is a little wider than I expected but it doesn't gape and the look is like real riding boots so they're meant to fit over thin pants and have a little room to move the ankle. Since it's real sturdy leather, it would be impossible to move if they were more snug. I wore these on a business trip where I had to walk and stand all day and they looked smart were comfortable right out of the box. They're lovely and look great with a dress or jeans/leggings. A classic style, take care of them and they'll last for decades ... show more

I am 5’8” for reference. Would probably be too tall if you were a shorter legged lady. I weigh 130 pounds with not necessarily super thin legs. I felt the calves were too big in these. They gapped awkwardly outward. I also did not like the fabric sewn-in loops at the sides. I considered cutting them off, but that would still show. And they could not be tucked in. If you zoom in, you can see an awkward, zigzag stitching pattern on the outside of the leather attaching the fabric loops. I also felt, the seam going down the front of the boot was awkward and not constructed well. The oiled toe looked good. The color was also somewhat orange in huhh. Disappointing.
