When I take my car in for an oil and filter change, the dealer frequently points out that I need to replace my air filters at a cost of about $60 each. Instead I have bought the filters at Amazon for about $10 each and install them myself. It takes about 10 minutes or less. (In case I've forgotten how to make the change, there are videos on UTUBE for my specific car year and model.) It takes no special tools, and these filters fit like original equipment. I purchased this filter to replace the Carquest / OEM air filter which has been in the car since I initially purchased the car in January of 2020. I have attached several pictures to see how dirty my filter was versus this new one. With this new one you have to make sure you put it in the right way otherwise it will not fit. If you put it in the wrong way you will have about a quarter of an inch hanging outside the chamber and the lid will not lock in place. At first I thought I purchased the wrong filter or this would not work, but then I flipped it around the other way and it fit perfectly. So if you have a similar situation just flip it around and it should work. Like other reviewers said this filter does not have locking tabs, but it does have spring tabs on both sides to hold it in place. It should not go anywhere once the cover is locked in place. I did notice a slight Improvement in my miles per gallon after changing the air filter. I know I should have replaced it about a year ago, but the last time I checked it it was not dirty. Almost all of our driving is on highways and not in Dusty conditions, but I most likely will start changing the filter yearly anyways for the miles per gallon improvement if nothing else. Feels solid! Fits nice and tight in my Hyundai Santa Fe 2020. No need for the locking clips as this is probably more secure than the oem previously installed. Not sure about longevity, but they are affordable enough to change frequently. Easy to change in about ten seconds! Looks and feels identical to oem minus the clips. This air filter is great as a replacement for the OEM filter. This is an automobile engine air filter inside a custom plastic frame. The initial filter frames had a locking mechanism that you turned once the filter was in place to push it against the inside of the air filter chamber. Later air filters came with a plastic spring that accomplished the same task without you having to turn a lock. You just pushed the filter into place. Both techniques accomplish the same task: to cause a tight fit inside the filter compartment. The filters easily last 10,000 miles before needing changing, depending on how dusty the air is going into the engine. The more dust, the shorter the filter life. Changing a dirty filter can increase your gas mileage. ... show more
