  • Easier to retract when wet
Needed a compact solution for fishing with my two kids as magically there's never enough room in the boat. Definitely tougher to retract when the net is dry, but once it's wet from netting a fish, works great.

  • Great net that stows nicely
Overall this is a great net. It has its pluses and minuses but I really like it. What I like: It saves space. I can sore this in my rod locker on my bass boat and it takes up basically no space. The days of dealing with a giant net on the deck of my boat are over. There are folding nets that I can put in my rod locker but the net is exposed and they get tangled on baits still attached to my rods. The net on the Hiber Net tucks safely away into the handle were it can't get tangled. Also, it is quick to deploy. What I don't like: It does not have a rubber tangle free net. It is a cloth/nylon type net that will snag your hooks every time you land a fish. There is also the possibility of it getting stuck while opening or closing the net but I have not experienced this yet. For me this net is great and I'm really satisfied with it. I definitely recommend it to others. ... show more

  • Worst Net and Company Ever
If I could give it zero stars, I would. This was going to my second Frabill Hibernet. The first one held up well, though it went with the boat when I sold it many years ago. The genius part of the product is the net stores inside the handle. The fist one was a bit difficult to deploy, though over time it did get better. It does take two hands. This one when arrived today, I noticed the Made in Taiwan sticker on it. I opened it exactly twice while in the garage. It was quite difficult to open, though the I figured it would get easier. I then had my wife try to deploy the net. She was unable to physically open it. She handed it to me and I opened it up and the entire assembly came out along with a part that I still don’t know where it came from which fell to the ground. I called Frabill which is a Plano company. I sat on hold for 30 minutes. I gave up, but did was able to get a return phone call from Frabill. I explained my situation and the representative could care less. In fact, the entire phone call lasted 29 seconds. Needless to say, this thing is going back to Amazon and I will not be purchasing another thing from Frabill and it is doubtful I will be purchasing any additional Plano products as well. Buyer be ware. ... show more

  • Met All Expectations
We found the net to be very handy. It takes up little space and stores easily, out of the way, in a compartment. Not a net for youngsters, as it does take some effort to open and close, but very manageable. On a recent week long fishing vacation, it worked perfectly for catch and release of large bass, we prefer not to lip for their health, and toothy critters (Northerns) for ours. I would advise anyone needing a part-time net to give it a try. ... show more

  • Perfect net for someone who does not have a place to store a net
Very innovative design for a net. Works perfect on a bass boat where is not a great place to store a normal net. The whole net slides back in the tube and you can put the net in your rod locker. When deploying the net, it’s a little hard to lock into place, but it deploys quickly. Next seems pretty strong, 5+Lb smallmouth don’t put any strain on the net, nor did the 10+lb musky. Net material is soft but definitely not hook resistant. Overall the best net for the job in a bass boat ... show more

  • Convenient for a small boat
Once opened this is a sizable net with a fairly deep bag, so long that every time I open it, I have to grab the bottom to keep it from snagging something on my boat when netting fish. Otherwise it works great, just have to get used to the opening mechanism- sometimes the net doesn't fold in properly and bunches up when you close it too quickly so opening the next time it can be a bit hard. ... show more

  • Finally a net that stores out of the way.
So far I'm very happy with this net. I have used it on fish up to 5lbs and it has worked well. Because the net completely collapses I am able to store it in the rod locker and out of the way. The nets action is smooth and is ready for use in seconds. If the net will handle much bigger fish I will be back to raise the rating. ... show more

  • Great Idea For A Fishing Net
The only problem I have is that it doesn't extend in length. Sometimes you just need that extra few inches to net the fish. Stores really easy in the boat. Haven't had any trouble with opening and closing so far. Hope for a few years of use before having to replace. Will see in time if it holds up.
