  • Great reading glasses
Color: Satin Purple/Transparent Magnification Strength: 2.5 x
Frames are sturdy, the lenses are wonderful. I can see the TY which is more than 10’ away, I can read a book that is sitting in my lap and can read the phone when it is 1’ away from my face. Very satisfied

  • Multifocus FGs are the ONLY kinds of reading glasses I will ever buy again! (& CHARLSIE is my favorite among them by far)
Color: Green Magnification Strength: 1.75 x
I am a professor, so I read constantly, and am often in front of a computer. I love the progressive nature of my (custom, crazy expensive) regular progressive glasses, because I hate taking reading glasses on and off. But prefer to wear contact lenses for most of the day for sports & aesthetic reasons. What to do? Well, I went out searching high and low for off-the-shelf progressive reading glasses, so that I could economically switch between reading, using the computer, and walking around, without experiencing blurriness. I found exactly one brand of glasses that did it for anything resembling a reasonable price: Foster Grant "Multifocus" glasses. The concept of off-the-shelf progressive reading glasses is genius. For the life of me, I do not understand why Foster Grant seems to be the only company making them. They are a little pricey relative to regular cheapo reading glasses. But because I lose them less often because I am popping them on and off in fewer situations -- not to mention the added benefit that I can see more clearly in more situations -- they are absolutely worth every penny of the difference. STYLE re the CHARLSIE design in particular: numerous female friends and a couple of male friends have tried these on, and the Charlsie looked strangely great on nearly everyone. That was not the case for some of the other options I tried of this line; the Charsie just somehow blends into faces unusually well. Plus, most of the other designs in this line are made out of a thick plastic, which I find can interfere a bit with peripheral vision, or at least be a bit distracting. I can see these at the edges, but not nearly as obviously as the others. While it would be nice if FG had an even wider array of choices, I really doubt I could ever do better for myself personally than the look of the Charlsie's in particular. WHAT WOULD MAKE THEM (EVEN) BETTER: - They could be (even) better if the upper region was fully uncorrected, rather still having some reading correction in them, because I would prefer to not have to take them off for crystal clear vision at all. - It would be extra great if they could add blue light blocking for night time screen time, like some of the other Foster Grant glasses have (I would happily pay extra for that!) - I have a very large head (as in, can almost never buy a hat off the rack big). In my perfect world, the Charlsie model would be a tad bigger for me...but, then again, that probably means that the current sizing will work for other people better. It is fairly low stakes anyway, as the ear pieces are hinged and adjustable, so these will fit a wide range of head sizes well enough. But, regardless, these glasses are NEARLY PERFECT, and are are SO MUCH SMARTER than virtually every other pair of reading glasses on the market that I am thrilled to have these as is. P.S. Despite my rather extreme enthusiasm for these, I should note that I have not been provided with products or anything else for this review. I just really appreciate smart design and like to see companies that make smart, user-friendly choices benefit from user-friendly design choices. And this is a very smart concept at every level. ... show more

  • Stylish and functional but heavy
Color: Satin Navy/Transparent Magnification Strength: 2 x
I see very well in these glasses, and the frames are very stylish. However, they are so heavy that I had a headache almost immediately. To be fair, I am sensitive about glasses weight and cannot wear many brands. If this sounds like you, you are not going to like these glasses.

  • Nice glasses except..
Color: Satin Navy/Transparent Magnification Strength: 1.5 x
These glasses are made well, look good and fit good. Problem was the multifocal lens. I don't see any difference in the lens. If I push the glasses up to look out the very bottom of the lens I can read print. Would not rely on the multifocal feature.

  • Cute, comfortable, colorful and sturdy with nice spring hinges
Color: Satin Purple/Transparent Magnification Strength: 1.5 x
I bought these glasses and another similar pair to replace an old pair of Foster Grant readers. I specifically wanted glasses with spring hinges, metal frames and straight sides that don't dig into my head. Like the older ones, these glasses are well-made, sturdy and are very easy to see with. I like the multi-focus feature, which keeps me from having to look up over the top of the glasses to see things at a distance. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. They are heavier than cheap glasses, but that's fine with me, because they're also sturdier and will last a long time. ... show more

  • Stylish, reasonable price for the quality of multi-focus magnification
Color: Tortoise/Transparent Magnification Strength: 1.5 x
Like being able to read fine print up close and without changing glasses, read an arm's distance print, especially music notes on a grand piano music stand or organ console or on the music stand while directing a choir. Keep them in the provided case in my purse because the one I tossed into a soft side pocket ended up with a broken temple piece. Sometimes the nose pieces get a little tight and pinch, but I can bend them out. Don't recommend wearing on top of your head because (a) hair catches in the nosepiece (b) it stretches the temple sides and you're more likely to break one. When my broke, I could not repair it with a typical eyeglasses repair kit. It just broke cleanly off, so it wasn't just replacing a screw when it happened. At this price, I have a pair inside the grand piano, one in my purse, one in my nightstand, and another pair that keeps floating around and getting left here and there. There are not a lot of color choices in this style, but I like this style because I have a small face and it doesn't overwhelm my face. ... show more
