I wasn't expecting much from this product based on the price point of a two-piece set but was pleasantly surprised. Yes the welding quality and fit and finish is pretty typical of products made overseas, however for a tool that you are using in the garden that is acceptable, especially given the cost. You do have to buy a handle for these, and I would recommend taking it with you to the store to get the correct one. I ended up getting a pitchfork handle at a farm supply store that had a metal sleeve over the wood at the end where the tool mounted. The metal sleeve was tapered and fit well into the hoe. I drilled a hole all the way through and secured it with a bolt. So far it is working well. The hoe is pretty thin and quite sharp so it goes easily into the soil. You have to be careful though and not swing to aggressively if you have a lot of rocks or very hard ground since you could possibly dull/damage the blade or bend the hoe. I would recommend this item to any gardener out there. ... show more

We had an old hoe with a rusty head that was starting to wear badly, I got these because they described them as being a good replacement. Overall they attached easily to the pole and the heads came sharpened but the metal on the head is not real thick and they are kind of small. They worked OK starting out and performed as expected but you can tell overtime these will wear easily unless using on soft or loose soil. They actually will probably work better as a handheld hoe instead of on a pole. I plan to use the extra like that and if more effective, use them this way instead and get a standard replacement square hoe head for the pole. ... show more

First, because this was a question I had myself, I thought I would let others know that just like it shows in the photos, you do get TWO of these tools in your package. That was a very nice surprise because it does not say that in the description. It makes this a real bargain in my opinion. Two quality tools for about $8 apiece is unheard of these days! These look and feel a bit rough--like they came straight from the blacksmith's shop without any extraneous clean-up--but the blade is solidly welded to the handle and isn't likely to come loose in your lifetime or the lifetime of the hoe. It is also wickedly sharp, so be careful! (I suggest slitting a short length of old garden hose and using that to cover the blade when not in use.) I did not take stars off for the roughness because it lets me know that it really was handmade and by someone who valued the quality of the tool over silly aesthetics. If you don't like the roughness of the handle part, it is nothing that a few swipes with some sandpaper and some spray paint won't fix. Personally, I see this as a garden tool--if it does the job, I don't need it to be pretty. You could use these as is, but the design of the handle allows you to attach it to a wooden shaft of whatever length suits your preferences. I intend to put a very short handle on one for hand weeding and attach a long handle to the other for stand-up weeding. (Best of both!) I highly recommend these! ... show more

This set of two hoe attachments are SHARP. They are SOLID. They are HEAVY. The amount of tape and padding and cardboard used to wrap these told the story before I even got to the blades - I knew from looking at the packaging, before I got to the blades, that they were sharp. I'm quite glad they were wrapped well, I could see these cutting right through the packaging during shipment, otherwise. I think these are iron - they have a greasy residue, which my husband said make sense if they are, to prevent rust. They're clearly meant to be attached to a pole - there is a hole in the hollowed handle of each one to use to attach it. The hallowed handle is slightly tapered, also, so it would probably fit on any pole, regardless of diameter. I'm not a gardening or yard work expert, but my husband is pretty close - and his eyes literally lit up when he saw these. The first thing he said was that he was happy because he could use one by itself, as a hand hoe, and the other attached to a pole - and he just happens to have an extra pole to attach it to. The weight and sturdiness, design and care taken with these, was all very impressive, and I could not possibly rate these less than five stars. Very high quality product. ... show more
