The Flow Master Outlaw Extreme Cat Back exhaust is the perfect exhaust to get if you want to obtain a more aggressive noise from your engine. The sound of the exhaust is the perfect sound to a 5.4-liter V8 motor. The tone really wakes up the engine making it sound louder than how it sounded when it came from the factory with the factory exhaust. In cold weather the exhaust is loud, but if you like an aggressive tone you will love the sound of it when you first start your truck in the morning. The noise inside the cab is a moderate noise, you can still have a conversation with other people without trying to yell over the noise of the exhaust. The sound is also moderately low while driving on the freeway using cruise control. The installation is quick and easy to do without having to pay someone to do it for me. The exhaust comes with instructions, so if you just read the instructions and follow it step by step you will get the exhaust installed within an hour. The exhaust is a short down pipe which means that the pipe does not completely go all the way towards the back of the bed. The down pipe causes the exhaust to dump right before the rear axial of the truck, making for the back of the truck to have a cleaner, stealthier look. I am happy with how this exhaust sounds and how easy it is to install the exhaust. The exhaust really makes people turn heads when they hear the aggressive tone of the motor going down the street. I highly recommend anyone who wants to get the aggressive tone to your engine and to get rid of the factory quiet noise.

I loved the sound in Flowmaster's video for this kit, and I wasn't sure if I would get the exact same result, but I really didn't want to spend any more than this at the time and I knew it would be at least decent, so I figured I'd go for it, knowing it would be a simple install. Install was even EASIER than I expected - it's an idiot-proof process, as long as you know how to run a Sawzall or have the patience for a hacksaw. I used the former, and it took me no more than 30 minutes to install, start to finish. Result - this sounds UNREAL! Exactly like the video. Just loud enough for me and not obnoxious like open-headers or loud straight pipes. If you're looking for next-to-silence inside the cab, this may disappoint slightly, but I find the sound to be enjoyable, even while listening to music or having a conversation with the fam. It's not too excessive in my opinion. The truck sounds incredible from the outside... Totally worth it. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat. Don't spend more than you need to on a nice sounding truck exhaust! Cat-back full exhaust systems won't sound THAT MUCH better than this pipe, if at all. At least based on my personal taste... I love this and I'm glad I didn't spend more. Flowmaster has this stuff figured out to the letter. BEST purchase I've made in a long time!!

This exhaust system was easy to install. It is not a cat-back, but I was able to attach it to my existing pipe from the cat-conv as the pipe was still in fine shape. This system sounds good and aggressive (as described). It is LOUD! I didn't/don't have a problem with that however it is also very loud INSIDE the passenger compartment. I'm adjusting, but it is louder than I'd really prefer.

Super easy to install, only took 30 minutes top. Just cut where they instruct you, I also cut after the muffler to make it easier to get the old exhaust out. The front hanger is back a few inches too far, but with something that light one hanger will do. As far as the sound, it's amazing. Nice deep rumble at idle. Gets real loud when you stomp on it, but settles down once it kicks into sixth gear.

It's awesome if you want a good sounding exhaust for cheap, hardest part was just getting the old one off. It is a little noisy inside cab, but that happens if you want it loud. Doesn't sputter or sound like a blaaahhhh exhaust... good sound all through the gears!

Update: I’m lowering my review rating as the paint job is completely awful for spending almost $400! There seems to already be signs of rust and chipping of the paint. This is only after a week of install! I’m in Florida so yes it’s exposed to water, but nothing harsh like salt on roadways! The paint job is not worth the price, if your expecting your exhaust to stay a nice black color I don’t recommend this product. Disappointed in the product. Item arrived on time. Install took about 1hr. However one thing I noticed was that the paint does seem to fade after about a day or two, which I thought the item would have a better paint job for the price. The muffler does sound great, I’m soon to be doing a resonator delete to get it even louder. The muffler is decently loud and has more of a rumble tone rather than a crackle tone. 2011 5.0 lariat
