Makes planting bulbs so easy, especially for someone with arthritic hands, once you get the hang of it. Holds the dirt for replacement after you add bulbs, releases it nicely. My only regret is I didn't get it years ago.

I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this tool... however... I can't say that it works for me. I've tried it on multiple soils and on multiple ground conditions. Mainly, I even tried to use it in my growbox soil (for small seed potatoes) and it still wouldn't pierce the soil. I got this tool because of all the positive reviews because I needed something like this to work. But for me, it did not work to make more than a two inch depth. it seems the blade is not actually sharp enough to sink into the ground. Sadly, I'm thinking of returning it because I'm so disappointed with how poorly it did. I don't know why everyone else seems to give it high reviews. Maybe the one I got was just a dud. ... show more

I used this to plant several different herbs/plants that came in small containers in the hard/compact soil here in South Carolina & it held up well, showing no signs of being flimsy. It saved me a lot of time & energy compared to how I planted several other things by just using a small hand trowel. I (female) have small hands & am getting on in years, so this was a great help.
