  • My Best 3D Printer
Size: Guider II
I have been using this printer for 2 months and have printed many large/wide items for prototyping/production use. It's easy to use and the prints are great. It's definitely much better than I expected before I bought it. I have it connected over the built-in wi-fi and this was easy too. It's a somewhat quiet printer and I added some sound proofing foam/felt material inside to make it even quieter. Like the other people, the first thing I did was to design/print my own universal filament/spool holder haha (because the original spool holder appears to a snap-in to their filament/brand only). From time to time, I have emailed their tech support asking various questions and always received good answers super fast in a few hours or under a day, and even while their team members were on weekends and during their public holidays too! ... show more

  • Great Upgrade from the Dreamer NX
Size: Guider II
I've been printing with the Flashforge Dreamer NX for 2.5 years now. I print 10-15 hours/day 6-7 days/week. The Dreamer NX has been lasting about 1 year (3000-4000 hours) before something goes wrong (usually the hot end wiring fails. Instead of buying another Dreamer NX I decided to upgrade to Guider 2. I'm glad I did. I've been printing with it every day for 2 weeks and it prints like a dream. It has the same print head as the Dreamer NX, so I'm familiar with how it works and I've been easily able to migrate my print projects to the Guider 2. The massively upgraded Z axis on the Guider 2 means I only check my level once in the morning and it prints great all day. With the Dreamer NX I was re-leveling the bed before every print to keep the quality up. I highly recommend this printer for the person who's making things to sell. ... show more

  • Calibration is key...
Size: Guider II
**See full review where i discuss common issues amongst other reviews** I decided to wait a month before writing this review, I wanted a decent bit of print time on this before i made a review. Right now I'm at about 300 hours with this printer, and it's a decent printer, but with every printer I've used, it has its downfalls. First, I'll go over what I like. 1) This machine has a large bed and print space, and I can run multiple projects at once. 2) I've found with other machines, anything over 60mm/s the quality drops significantly. Not with this machine 3) This model has a stationary print head, and the bed moves down for the print and, in my opinion that makes smoother prints. Looking at other reviews, I'd like to offer some advice for the common issues listed. 1) First of, DO NOT USE THE FILAMENT THAT COMES WITH IT. FlashForge filament is utter garbage. It will clog and I've never had a smooth print. 2) calibrate calibrate calibrate. There's 2 different calibrations you need to do: first is the nozzle calibration in the settings, and THEN you want to level the bed. I found the factory setting had the nozzle 2mm above where it needed to be. 3) plastic stuck on nozzle. If a print fails and turns into spaghetti, filament will get stuck on the metal nozzle. Unscrew the 2 screws holding the bottom plastic piece, then remove the protector rubber and you can simply remove the metal face that surrounds the nozzle and remove the plastic. Either preheat and scrape, or I'll just wiggle a box cutter and scrape the plastic off the cold metal. To clean the nozzle simply preheat, and twist/wipe with some toilet paper (careful, you can easily burn yourself.) 4) clogged nozzle. This one either has a simple fix, or a complex fix.... So read carefully. I've had 3 clogs. The first two i was able to unscrew the 2 screws on top of the extruder, preheat to about 260-260°C, and then gently press the unclog stick into the feed hole on the top. I then let it sit at that temp for another minute, and gently pressed the stick in again. Once I was content with how much filament came out, I turned off preheat, let it drop back to the 210-220°C range and fed the filament. The third one was a little tricky. I had to remove the bottom pieces (just like how i explained the stuck plastic issue above) and then, using 2 plyers, I held the metal base and twisted off the nozzle. Went in and cleaned it, then reassembled. Make sure to recalibrate! All in all, it's a decent machine, and it's pretty user friendly, though i recommend just taking it slow and watching some YouTube videos. I don't believe a "beginner" printer exists, but this one is pretty close. I think the most fundamental skills is knowing how to calibrate. My last tip is just a personal preference: the roll holder on the back is kinda short and doesn't hold the thicker filament spools as good, and I've even had 1 fall off. I bought a filament holder that is like a track with wheels. Problem solved. ... show more

  • Horrible Printer. Did not last 4 hours.
Size: Guider II
EDIT: I will order a replacement to give FlashForge a second chance. If it goes well, I may change the review I have a small business and I decided to try out this printer with the reviews it got. It is large so it's an advantage for anyone who is new to 3D printing and wants a large area. I was able to only make 1 3D print today and then it jams and makes a knocking sound. I noticed the Fillament jammed up the printer and there was nothing I could really do. The Fillament got all over the nozzle too and I was not able to get the item working. I just purchased this and am returning this on the same day. I really had high hopes for this, but I am getting a refund and hoping someone reads this. I also noticed the touch screen was very hard to work with, it wouldn't register taps and sometimes typed something else In instead of a character or setting I was trying to go to. I would say that I want to get a replacement, but I will look at better rated 3D printers. Looking at the 1 star reviews, I can assume there were issues, more or less like mine. So hopefully someone reads this review and makes the great choice ... show more

  • Print Platform stopped heating within the first year of owning.
Size: Guider IIS
I've had this printer for less than a year and the print platform has stopped heating. I was in the middle of a print and the print failed, then noticed that the bed would not heat. I reached out to Flash Forge US and they said that they don't have my order in their system but Flash Forge China might (Doesn't seem like it would matter since I bought from the Amazon US). I have reached out to Flash Forge China and have not heard back yet. Hoping that their customer service will respond quickly and help resolve this issue!!!! ... show more
