I'm a bit disappointed in this product. Nowhere in the listing does it say what material it’s made of, probably because they don’t want you to know that it’s made of plastic. It even says it on the box label. It feels extremely flimsy, and almost like cardboard; it’s not even as nice as the particle board that most furniture is made of nowadays. Assembly is very easy as advertised. It’s poorly engineered (there are highly visible seams everywhere) and since it’s plastic, putting in the screws is like a hot knife through butter. There’s something wrong with that because when you are screwing through wood, there’s at least a little resistance. On this one you can almost push in the screws with your fingers. The product pictures make the panels look thicker and look like wood. The panels I received are thinner and painted with such a thin layer of paint that you can almost see the cardboard/plastic underneath it. The only positive things I can say about it is that it's nicely designed (it looks nice if you are far away and can’t see the seam lines), and that it’s easy to pick up. But being lightweight isn’t really a positive because the materials are cheap. The product description says the product weight is 1lb, which I think is a little low, but it’s not far from the truth because I can easily lift the whole thing with just a few fingers. It's flimsy and I don't want to set heavy things on it. If you are looking for low-cost disposable furniture (for a dorm room or something) then this might meet the need. I realize that at the price point I shouldn't be too disappointed (I've paid $20 for other cheap plastic things) but I really was expecting something that was at least particle board. I probably would have been less disappointed if I had known ahead of time what it was made out of. This particular item has a lower price than other similar products here on Amazon, so if you are looking for a plastic small lightweight shelf then this one would probably fit your need - just know what you are getting. ... show more

This small side table goes together extremely well. The mortise and tenons were cut well and every screw hole was positioned exactly where it needed to be. It is super lightweight- and this can be either a plus or minus depending upon your purpose. I couldn't find a description of the material in the product listing so I wasn't sure if it would be a wood composite or plastic. What it appears to be is a beefed up foam core with a plastic surface. I am not convinced this unit could hold much weight without either bowing or causing the screws to tear through the foam, however for lightweight uses I think it works pretty well. You can see the tiny screws, and there are a lot of them, but because they are so small they aren't obnoxiously distracting. Assembly was simple, the instructions were easy to follow and accurate. The screwdriver provided was functional but not ideal. There was a set of gloves included and these did help me grip the screwdriver so I used them since there are a lot of screws to fasten! I had planned to use it in my craft room but I think the weight of what I planned on it holding would be too much so I am using it outside my front door under a covered porch for decoration. I'm leaving one shelf empty and so far delivery people have been using that for small packages which works out extremely well. Where I think Fixwall's tiered side table/shelf would shine is in a dorm or other short-term housing. It's lightweight to carry up several flights of stairs and would be useful to keep things organized without a concern of the cost or damage of more expensive furniture. ... show more

The table came with white gloves and 30 screws. After putting the pieces together like a puzzle (best to wear the gloves) you then use the 30 screws to secure the pieces in place. It is very lightweight and did not blend well with my solid, wood furniture. It would work best in a casual bathroom or kid's room. ... show more

    • Inexpensive storage solution
Let's be honest - a $20 side table is not going to be great quality or built to last. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by the Fixwal side table. I ordered this to store some of my son's craft supplies, which I had been keeping in a large cardboard box to keep it out of the way. I wanted a cheap solution that was an upgrade from a cardboard box. The $20 Fixwal side table fit the bill perfectly. Assembly was straightforward. The pieces have precut slots that make assembling the table straightforward. I was skeptical about using the puny screwdriver that is included. There are a lot of screws in the set, and a full sized screwdriver would definitely make the job easier. I used the included screwdriver to see how easy/difficult it would be, and I was impressed that I was able to assemble the table fairly easily. The pieces are lightweight and likely won't withstand much tear and wear. The multiple screws are exposed. That said, the table looks decent when assembled. For $20, this is a decent upgrade from the cardboard box I had been using. ... show more

    • Plastic like material split during assembly
This little shelf side table is nice looking from a distance. Up close, there are seams and all of the 28+ screws are visible on the side. Assembly is first pushing these tabs into slots. One of my slots cracked while I was pushing, so that adds an extra defect. Then 28 tiny screws. Also, it's covered in some kind of dust so you will need to clean it before use. It's small enough I think it will fit on top of my dresser and give me some extra shelves. If you need a little nightstand to last a few seasons, this one is ok. ... show more

This nightstand was super easy to assemble. However the material it’s made of is super weird almost like a mixture of wood and styrofoam..? It dents with a fingernail. But it is sturdy once it’s fully together. Perfect for a kids room.
