  • DDR but using your hands! Solid boxing workout suitable for beginners to intermediate level!
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
If you've ever played Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), you know how much of a workout that is (on any other difficulty than easy). Expect a similar workout with this game, especially when you get a few days in. With the pandemic, most gyms shut down and I honestly haven't been to one since the pandemic started back in March of 2020. I'd usually do a light/medium session hitting the heavy bag just to mix up my workout. This game replicates most of what I was doing (basic striking, I'm no boxer, it was purely just to have a little variety outside of the usual workouts). Don't get me wrong though, there's nothing that replicates the joy/effect of actually punching an object with resistance rather than punching the air. The game walks you through basic boxing stance, striking, defense, and combos. I'm no professional boxer and was able to follow most of the game's instructions. However, I did have some slight issues with the game registering my weaving and ducking which required me to perform the action with more exaggeration than you'd have to in real life. Slightly annoying but not game breaking as it registered most of my punches accurately. I also do not recommend that you go full throttle hitting the air because you can tweak or hurt something in real life. Save your full efforts for when the pandemic is over and you can launch your punches at something with resistance. Ensure that you know this is a FITNESS boxing game, not actual boxing. Come into it realizing this and you'll have a lot more fun! I'm able to generate a ton of sweat and burn a lot of calories playing this game (just the daily workout alone and an extra exercise or two) and highly recommend it! Soundtrack is my style (it's mostly EDM/top 40/oldies top 40) for most of the songs but probably won't fit everyone. This game is now my daily workout and I can truly say this game has motivated me to stay active, something not easy (I'll be honest, I was lazy but this game has motivated me again!) to do with the pandemic around. Don't forget to keep a bottle of Gatorade/Pedialyte Sport around and most importantly, don't forget to keep your hands up! ... show more

  • Another Great Fitness Game for Nintendo Switch
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
I picked up Fitness Boxing 2 to add to my in home workout routine, and it did not disappoint. I’ve put quite a lot of hours into Ring Fit Adventure already and I just felt like I needed to mix it up and try something new throughout the week. Fitness boxing 2 is great for doing just that, you have the ability to select how long you want to work out for, and how intense you want your workout to be for your daily workout. I’ve done hour long sessions on the highest intensity, and I truly feel like I’m getting a great workout in. The music in game is pretty good, the visuals are nice. I do enjoy the ability to pick from a selection of various trainers, and you even have the ability to customize your personal trainer. The motion controls are okay, of course the game can’t determine what punches you are exactly throwing, or if you are in the right form, it’s all on timing, so take that into consideration if you are looking to have proper boxing form or technique. I have noticed that some of the ducks and dodges have failed to register for me sometimes, but I can’t complain too much about that. The only other thing I can add is that it took me some time to get used to navigating the menu, and the button setup. It can be a little annoying at first, but it’s not too bad. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I do enjoy using Fitness Boxing 2. I can really get a good workout in and be drenched in sweat on the days where I don’t play Ring Fit Adventure. I would highly recommend adding this to your library if you are already using Ring Fit Adventure regularly, or if you are just looking to start working out at home to get moving and work up a sweat. ... show more

  • Fun workout that manages to distract me
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
I hate working out a lot...so I'm always looking for ways to exercise without it seeming so much like exercise. This game definitely works. I like it because I like to box and was using my VR set to do it but I get hot under the headpiece really fast and wanted another option. I bought this and RingFit adventure and I like both but this is slightly more fun and trying to punch on time generally makes me forget that I'm working out. I started with the 38 minute and just moved up to the 48 minute and I feel like I get a pretty good cardio clip and my arms are usually sore by the end. I don't know if more leg stuff will pick up, I'm doing the total body workout so far...but there is a lower body option that I might try just to switch it up. My only criticism is the warm up/cool down (same thing)...I don't love it and feel that it could be a little more comprehensive. I usually add my own stretches at the end. Otherwise, this is fun and if you're looking for something that doesn't take equipment to give you a sufficient overall workout and is fun rather than a drag, this is worth getting. ... show more

  • Fun exercise
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
Some of the movements (like ducking) don't register unless you're very dramatic about it. But regardless, it's still fun and a great way to exercise. The music choices are really bad. I only have 2 go to songs (animals and sandstorm). But honestly don't care about having much more since I focus more on the movements. I hope future versions include kick movements. ... show more

  • Great and fun workout!
Platform: Nintendo Switch Edition: Standard
Fun workout that they make easy to follow. Even if you aren't perfect with form, they do a great job at helping you get as close as possible. Overall great workout. I just need to get better and using it daily, but when it's a great mild workout (you can also adjust difficulty which I appreciate).
