No need to worry about taking the hook out of the fish's mouth. The extra gripper makes it easier to catch fish, and you don't have to worry about small fish slipping off. I haven't tested whether it has enough power for big fish, but I hope I can catch a big fish with it next time.

I got these to review and I am glad to have them. I live on the east coast and do salt water fishing so everything has teeth and grabbing a fish has to be done with caution. The lip grippers work really nice to hold the fish without harming it and the long reach needle nose pliers work great to reach down deep into the fish incase they swallow the hook a little too far. The little sheath works pretty good and I will use some Velcro strips to attach it to my beach cart or maybe to attach it to my belt if I am surf fishing. These fishing pliers and gripper are pretty much run-of-the-mill. I don't care for the latch mechanism to keep them closed. It is hard to latch and hard to release with just one hand.

This is a decent middle ground if you’re looking for a new pliers and fish clamp. I have a very nice fish clipper and pliers and it is much better but this is a decent backup I keep in my backpack.

I picked these up more for the needle nose pliers than the lip gripper. I am impressed with both though. The lip gripper works well with a decent grip on it. The needle nose make getting lures out much easier, especially if they're deeper in the fish's mouth. The little expandable strap on the pliers is nice so you don't lose them if you drop them. I personally moved the clip onto a latch on the boat rather than the holster they came in, but that's my own personal preference. The price is nice and you should definitely have a set. ... show more

Going fishing often, I am always looking for ways to enjoy more lines in the water and less time fussing with the line and poles. This set has become one of my go-to tools and is an essential part of my tackle box as it's made it easier to enjoy the time on the water waiting for the next fish to catch. The pliers are strong and easy to use. Perfect for crimping weights on the bottom of my line, gripping the hooks while I thread the eye and other small tasks. It's got a lock on them so you can easily use it and then put it away without issue. These are nice to have when you have to take a hook out of a fish mouth and it's squirming. The kit comes with a lanyard and sheath so you can have the tools hang off your belt when fishing and since it is attached they won't drop. Eyed this mainly for the long nose fishing pliers - they are versatile for fishing. It works well as another hook remover, and as a normal plier due to its long nose. There’s more ridges than on a normal plier due to the nose length. The spring included isn’t too stiff where it wears your hand down. I tied some improved clinch knots and snipped off with the pliers as a test and it worked well too. The grippers here would work well for average river fish weighing a few lbs and below. You may want the gripper particularly for catfish due to the sharp fins, or if you have any cuts on your hands and want the extra reach.
