Description

Fisher Space Pen Bullet Pen, 400 Series – The Original Space Pen The Fisher Space Pen Bullet Pen, 400 Series was the first Fisher ball point pen, was the original Space Pen, and has been available for many years in a wide variety of different colors and finishes. The 400 Series Bullet pen is arguably the most popular pen of the twentieth century and is comprised of all brass and steel construction. This revolutionary design has been cited as an outstanding example of industrial art and has been exhibited for years in the New York Museum of Modern Art. Every Fisher Space Pen contains our famous pressurized ink refill cartridge that allows you to write at any angle (including upside down), in extreme temperatures (-30F to +250F), on almost any surface, underwater, through grease, and, of course, in space! Our precision assembled and hand-tested space pens last three times longer than the average pen! About Fisher Space Pens Fisher Space Pen is a family- owned company in the United States that revolutionized the pen industry with the invention of the “Universal Cartridge Refill” – a sealed and pressurized ink cartridge that literally launched the company into space in 1967. Debuting on the Apollo 7 mission in 1968, Fisher Space Pen has been on every NASA manned space flight since. Our products have also managed to find themselves onboard the International Space Station and have been utilized by the Russian and Chinese space programs, as well! In fact, Fisher Space Pen now has its own permanent exhibit inside the Apollo/Saturn V Center at Kennedy Space Center, which proudly shares our history and products with some three million people a year. Read more Famous Fisher Space Pens: Own a Piece of American History! Fisher Space Pens are famous due to their use by NASA during Debuting the Apollo 7 mission in 1968. Normal ballpoint pens expose the ink to air and rely on gravity – which wouldn’t work in space at zero-gravity – while our specialized ink cartridges rely on pressurized gas that won’t leak or dry up. This allows the pen to write at any angle (including upside down), in extreme temperatures (-30F to +250F), on almost any surface, underwater, through grease, and, of course, in space. The secret behind the unique capabilities of our pens lies in the ink cartridge itself. Our refills contain thixotropic ink and are hermetically sealed, pressurized with nitrogen gas, and feature a tungsten carbide ballpoint tip. To prevent leaks, Fisher ink is actually more of a gel than a liquid when it is at rest, but when pressure is applied to the ballpoint, the ink becomes spreadable, while still retaining the stickiness required to adhere to nearly any material. When it comes to pens, if you’re anything like us you can’t settle with just any old plastic ballpoint. You expect and deserve more from your pens - much more. To ensure the highest quality, our products are both hand- and machine-tested, so you can write confidently with the knowledge that your Fisher Space Pen will never let you down! • INDESTRUCTIBLE AND CLASSY
Solid little pen. Literally. The only time I need to replace this is when I lose it (first bought one in 2015, and second one May 2016, buying another today unfortunately). One day it somehow ended up in the parking lot at my job one Friday. The following Monday I saw it on my desk, dented but hardly scratched (thanks to the titanium nitride coating). My boss said he saw a big truck run over it and he knew it was my pen since I'm the only guy in the office with a gold pen, lol! He thought it was broken, but surprisingly it was only slightly bent where pebbles tried to to pierce the solid brass body. It basically looked like a dog with steel jaws tried to chew it up. Wrote like a champ even after taking a beating. However, I lost it last week in downtown :( . So of course I'm ordering another since it is such a strong and reliable pen! This pen looks great when paired with my field notes wallet. ... show more

  • Great Everyday Pen
I've owned four of these pens, not because they wear out or I get tired of them. I've owned 4 of these pens because I've lost 2 of them. This alone should tell you how much I love them. I keep this pen in my front pocket all of the time, whether dressed for work, casual or in a suit. I know I have a pen that will always write, whether it's freezing, wet or upside down. I consider this the most dependable pen a person can own. The titanium finish is made for everyday abuse. My pen rattles around in my pocket with coins, knives, or anything else I want to carry. . no scratches on the pens after years of use. I own a black titanium and a gold one. I prefer the gold finish, only because I can keep track of it easier. I consider this pen essential to my wardrobe. ... show more

  • Loose Caps compared to Store Bought Orignal.
WOULD HAVE BEEN 5 STARS IF THE CAPS WERE MORE FIRM I purchased the Original, Gold Brass, and Gold Titanium. I bought the ORIGINAL at Office Depot; The ORIGINAL has firmer feel when closing the pen. The Gold Brass and Gold Titanium are a bit looser giving it a cheaper feeling compared to the ORIGINAL. The GOLD BRASS AND TITANIUM look amazing and were purchased brand new, but the looseness of the cap indicates a shorter life span compared to the ORIGINAL. Also doesn't write very well on waxed business cards. ... show more
