  • Solid quality and value
You agonize over a purchase this expensive. Doing research and reading reviews I selected this generator for backup power at home. From delivery, set-up to start up and testing on the main panel this generator has performed flawlessly. Other than them not shipping enough oil to initially fill the crankcase I cannot complain about a thing. The noise level is acceptable and less than I anticipated. ... show more

  • Firman H08051
Amazon delivered it on time and with out a scratch. I had it up and running within 30 min. Started great on propane. It is a lot bigger than I was thinking. Very heavy. And very very loud. It was running @ 76 db. on the grass. I put a small load on it. and it seems to work great. I will be connecting it to the new house panel soon, then test the real load. You need ear plugs when close to it. So far happy. I wish it had a Amp meter or a Watt meter, There is no way of telling if you are getting close to it's limit? ... show more

  • Works Flawlessly
Excellent Generator . It is noisy ... But its a generator after-all . Living in the Eastern Sierra where SCE loves to shut off power to an entire region you definitely need a generator and this is a very good one . The reason for 4 stars is because it came damaged . The handle was bent and needed repairing and there where parts hanging by the wiring . Was this from poor shipping or poor packaging ... couldn't tell . Would still recomend it . ... show more

  • Solid unit, quick start
We are in N. California and power outages will become the new norm. Unit was delivered and I had the wheels on, oil in and ready to go in about 20 mins. I chose the dual fuel unit so it could be hooked up to my main (200 gal) propane tank and not have to worry about gasoline storage or running out for it. It started up on the second try and was smooth sailing after that. Not as loud as my neighbors, but will install it in a permanent location that will not be too disturbing. Solid piece of equipment. ... show more

  • The sound level and electric start is a huge plus!
I have three generators and this one is my favorite! The noice level is considerably lower than most. It is pretty heavy but the folding handle and the tires make it fairly easy to move around. I use this everyday at work to power my camper/office so the electric start is a major plus! The dual fuel is nice however if you use propane I recommend getting a large propane tank, the propane does go rather quickly. I can usually run it on gas for about 10 hours on one tank. ... show more

  • Read before you purchase! UPDATED! Not happy!!!
Purchased through a big box store on-line, after much research. It came by semi truck, packaged well, lots of instructions in many forms, a bit overwhelming but doable. Assembled easily and started right up on propane. It’s noticeably quieter than the Generac 8000 that I borrowed, a big plus! It has a lot more electrical connection options than any other portables in its class, it’s also has a higher amp output 50amp. Seems very well constructed, not much vibration during operation. It’s the first overnight usage and am pleased thus far. I will be updating as I use this as the main power source for my home. I plan on getting a forklift battery to run off of using the generator to recharge that batteries as needed. Ran 10 hours, medium load on one 20lb propane tank. I’ll update as I become more familiar with its operation. UPDATE 08/30/2019 Generator is still working but there are a few concerns... (1) It now has a long crank time before starting up on propane. Possible onboard propane regulator. (2) Starting to see oil from air filter assembly. This is usually due to excessive pressure caused by compression getting past the piston rings, pressurizing the crankcase causing the oil to be blown out. I’m currently building a shed to keep it in, so it’s out of the weather and will muffle most the noise. The shed will be insulated with foam board covered with a fireproof cement board. Vents and a vent fan and an exhaust extension, so the exhaust exits outside the building. UPDATE: 10/29/2019 After a few weeks of use, I noticed that it has become increasingly harder to start on propane (never used gasoline), so I contacted customer support on their website and explained the symptoms. They replied asking if I tried using the choke. When I answered them, I stated that the choke made no difference, I also added that I was seeing some oil coming out of the air filter housing. This was the last time I heard from them. I need this issue resolved as soon as possible, because I use this to recharge a battery bank that powers my small home. I also need a wiring diagram so I know what wires to tap into for the Magnum auto start. In addition, I informed them that I am ASE certified with over 36 years experience and that I have a pretty good idea that the regulator is suspect and that I know what causes the oil to be in the air filter housing and that it has me concerned. That’s when the communications stopped. H08051 Duel Fuel Generator Reference Number 190921-000027 IT BLEW UP! Firman Generator Review Purchased my Firman generator in July 2019 model# H08051. It’s a $1,000.00 generator. After break-in I noticed excessive oil coming from the air filter box. This is caused by pressure getting past the piston rings, pressuring the crank case and blowing out the air filter box. So I contacted customer service through their website and was ignored. I asked the question 3-4 times without any response. However, if I asked about anything else, I was promptly answered. Well I need the generator to charge up a battery bank for my small home, that I run through a pure sine wave inverter on those cloudy and rainy days. Six months later, yes 6 months later it quit running and would not turn over. The oil had been changed regularly and I used Mobile one high mileage oil. So I called Firman and told them and they said I had to take it to one of their service facilities. The closest one was a six hour drive away. I explained that I am a ASE certified technician and they told me I could tear it down to see what the problem was so they could get the parts. I pulled the cylinder head and found one of the valves had broken off at the top of the stem amd the broken part was still retained by the keeper. Of course the piston contacted the valve bending it up badly. I contacted the person by email and advised them of what I found. I was then told that they needed pictures. So I emailed them and after approximately 2 weeks with no reply, I called and spoke to the same person, asking what the holdup was. They stated that they needed to show their technician. So I waited approximately another week. I emailed them several times with no reply. So I called them again. Now they said their tech wanted a picture of the piston, so I emailed them that and waited again. After calling once more, I was told the tech went home sick. I’m still waiting for a reply and will have to call them once more. I also explained in the last email that I found a bunch of metal in the oil and nylon pieces in the pushrod valley. Clearly this need a complete engine assembly. I really don’t understand what the holdup is or why it’s so damn difficult to get replies. Something else I noticed. The handle assembly that is used to roll the generator around had fallen off. I found that the pin at the swivel joint had eaten through the thin metal tube on both sides from the vibration from the engine! I can’t recommend this generator in any way shape or form and advise to stay for away from Firman and any products they sell. ... show more

  • Works
I have used it through a couple power outages, via a manual whole house transfer (DD panel lockout). I only use propane and had a dedicated low pressure outlet installed (fed from 500 gallon tank). No issues. I am happy with the price, quality and reliability of this unit.
