I have a small house, with no fireplace, and I thought it would be fun to purchase a Yule Log-type DVD to play while opening presents on Christmas morning this year. I read the reviews of this one, the price seemed very reasonable, so I thought, why not? As always, Amazon's delivery was speedy and efficient, and this little gem arrived on my doorstep only a couple of days after I ordered. I brought it out tonight, a really rainy, stormy night, to give it a test run before Christmas. The verdict? Probably the best 10 bucks I've spent in ages. This is a close-up of a fire, so you don't get all the stockings and decorations on the mantle -- just the logs and fire, which is exactly what I was looking for. This DVD allows you to choose to have no music (just fire sounds) or music AND fire sounds. I chose the latter; the crackling fire sounds are very crisp and authentic, and the music is a pleasant and soothing instrumental soundtrack of all the old holiday classics -- "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing," "O, Come, All Ye Faithful," etc. It plays for quite some time, the fire getting bigger and more blazing as it goes, and then loops back and plays again, so there's no need to keep hitting the "play" button -- just hours of uninterrupted fire. One of the issues that was repeatedly brought up about this particular DVD was the small watermark that appears in the lower right hand corner of the screen near the end of the DVD (before it starts itself again). Given the many negative comments on this, I was expecting something egregious and really obtrusive; in fact, I barely noticed it. Yes, it's a link to a website -- fireplaceforyourhome.com or something like that -- but it's small (unless you have a gigantic TV, I suppose, which I don't), and it's in the very bottom corner of the screen, so it's not obstructing the view of the fire. And, it only lasts for a couple minutes, max. Overall, this was a find. Probably the best ten dollars I've spent in a long time! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is the best video fireplace I’ve found so far. Others I’ve tried, the quality was horrible and the sound even worse. This one is so much better and my go-to. I like not using up internet by streaming fireplaces from Roku or YouTube, so that’s why I bought this. The audio in my video I posted doesn’t really do it justice. It really does sound a lot better in person. Some other reviews have complained about the logo on the screen but it only pops up at 2 minutes left of this long 45 minute Blu-ray. *see my picture*. And the video automatically loops so you don't have to go changing the settings on your Blu-ray player. I agree with other reviews that the holiday music option isn’t great. It’s canned elevator type music, I much prefer to play my own Christmas music on a separate Bluetooth speaker. But I love having the fireplace crackling sound of this Blu-ray in the background too. If I had one complaint, I’d say I wish the logs were a little more “rustic” looking. The small one on the top left almost looks like a leftover piece of a 2x4. But as they burn up, it looks very pleasant. ... show more

    • A great fireplace DVD- and you can listen without the holiday music!
This DVD is great. I got it as a gift for a friend- she in turn has ordered it for a few people, who really loved it when they saw it at her place. I have also since gotten one for myself, and for my mom. It is just the fire- you don't see much fireplace around it (for those who are looking for the ones with dogs, cats or holiday decorations- this is not it). It has great crackling fire sounds, and you have the option of listening to the fire and holiday music, or JUST the crackling fire. I love that feature; the DVD can be used all winter long. The holiday music is nice, soothing background Christmas music. The DVD will also continually loop (music or no music, both options). It is about 60 minutes long, and is one fire that continually burns down. There have been a few people that complained about a small copyright message on the screen- it's in the bottom corner, for about 30 seconds at the end of the loop. It says 'fireplaceforyourhome.com' or something like that; honestly, I don't even notice it, it's on the screen so briefly at the end. I am so glad I picked this one! ... show more

I bought this disc because I had a spare TV I wanted to turn into a faux fireplace for the holiday season. I wanted it to be able to keep playing without taking bandwidth from other stuff and without random commercials from YouTube, and this fit the bill. It plays on an unending loop until it's stopped, and has the option of either a simple fireplace flame or the flames with Christmas music. The close-up shot of a fireplace inside turned out to be perfect for my project. In a dark room, it has that perfect, flickering fireplace glow. I've since finished my fireplace frame with some nice brick paper and marble paper, and I don't think any other fireplace DVD would have fit the bill so well. ... show more

    • Does What It Says.
Does what it says. Personally I don't get all the angry reviews on this product. It's a fire on tv. Sometimes you see the top of the flame, sometimes you don't. The music is the usual musical instrument only Christmas tunes. Relaxing if you're into that stuff. Got this for my late 70something parents and they love it and that's all that matters to me. I personally don't get it, but that's not the point. Nice to be able to use it without the music though, and that was a clear enough choice at the beginning of the dvd. I've had it on for hours and hours and hours here and haven't seen the ad yet, so the random observer will probably never see it. I would recommend this to a friend that wanted something like this. ... show more
