  • Good for all Your Home Networking Needs
Number of Items: 6
If you're like me, you've amassed various networking cables from CAT 5 to CAT 8 throughout the years, occasionally needing to piece them together to reach desired network destinations. Recently, I encountered an issue where a CAT 8 cable fell short of reaching the switch, necessitating its connection to a suitable length of CAT 5e cable I had on hand. To start, the connector functions as a pass-through and isn't picky about the cable generation you link to it. However, its throughput is capped by the oldest cable generation in use and generally not a problem with the connector. Until you reach CAT 8 throughput that is. The connector and its shielding are rated for up to CAT 7 speeds, for critical CAT 8 networks, considering a more shielded CAT 8-rated connector to ensure optimal speeds and distance for your cabling. Personally, on my gigabit home network, I haven't encountered any issues. Sometimes, settling for 'good enough' proves better than pursuing 'the best' for your network infrastructure. Additionally, given the price point, these connectors offer excellent value. Keep in mind that these connectors are only rated for indoor use. The gold-plated pins are corrosion-resistant, ensuring a reliable network setup for years without intervention. Visually, the connectors appear as raw metal and may not have the most appealing appearance. However, if you're handy, applying paint or an RTV coating could enhance their look. My plan involves gluing a rare Earth magnet to ensure it stays in place when I have to do some network rewiring. Overall, I'm quite happy with these connectors. They're affordable for the quantity provided and deliver high performance up to CAT 7 speeds. ... show more

  • Works great!

I rewired my entire house with Ethernet cables and need a quick and cheap solution to connect multiple cables together in the attic. Will report back how these handle the heat in the summer but so far they are stable, reliable, and sturdy!

  • I needed one coupler… I bought six!
Number of Items: 6
I got this six pack because it wasn’t that much more money than coupler one or two packs, plus these had pretty good reviews. As stated, I only needed one, for now, and it’s working fine. But this way should I need another coupler in the future I am ready. Couplers are cheaper than cables. These are supposed to be cat7, which means they are shielded and 10gig capable. Seems to be aluminum shell over a plastic case. Gold plated connector wires are a nice touch. ... show more

  • great to have on hand when the cable is just a little bit too short.
Number of Items: 6
I used these to have a handy junction with the corners of the attic, leaving an easy place to hook in whenever I finally install cameras at the corners. One also came in handy when my 6 foot cable was a couple feet short from the corner of the room, and a short patch cable will reach back up to the desk. ... show more

  • Looks very professional, and works well.

This connectors are well made. They look very nice, not like some plastic junk. It makes a tight connection on both sides. Tested one on a 10 gig port with no loss of speed. With the price being so low, I highly recommend them.

  • Works really well and made ever better than it looks
Number of Items: 6
This is sometimes and unusual odd networking piece to use. I don’t like tying in Cables very much. But in this case, I did sub cases at some events having extra long wires is not available and therefore these couple a few pieces together. And my recent case I had two cat 8 50 foot long cables with a cat five coupler. We switched out to these and I noticed a little bit faster response times between transfer of files and videos. We even tested this between 1 50 cable and 1 25 foot cable on each just to see what we would come up with and we could tell the difference. These are very well built with their lightweight metal enclosure. I would highly recommend these and I’m glad that we got them. I threw my cat fives out as I didn’t need them any longer and we switched to these. The only negative out of this would be if it was a cat eight but we’re not gonna talk about any difference in speed in this case cuz seven it’s just as fast as cat 8 in most cases. ... show more

  • Works as expected - Couldn't be simpler

I needed to extend my Ethernet and these worked great. Hard to write an extensive review of Ethernet connectors. Best I can say it, these worked great. I recommend them if you're wanting to extend your network

  • Nominally effective couplers but engineering could be better
Number of Items: 6
This review is for the 6 pak of FGB Cat7 RJ45 shielded ethernet couplers. One of the aspects of CAT7 ethernet is that RF shielding is required. Aluminum or aluminum foil is generally efficient for repelling enough RF interference to significantly improve signal transmission compared to non-shielded CAT6 spec product. These particular couplers, upon close inspection, appear to be regular, plastic CAT6 couplers with a thin layer of aluminum encasing added after initial construction. They tested fine, no cable faults, etc. But they don't feel solidly constructed and there is a lot of play with attached RJ-45 connectors which could lead to signal loss after some time. Contrast these with another brand of CAT7/CAT8 coupler with unibody engineering, shown side by side in the second pic, that feel much more solid with almost no play among attached connectors, and which I prefer since we use many for long ethernet runs (almost as long as this sentence). The movement these connectors allow could cause the plastic tabs that lock in the male to female components to wear out sooner than otherwise depending on where the couplers happen to be located, thus minus one star for that shortcoming. Otherwise, they all appear to work at least as good as the plastic CAT6 couplers I've used extensively, or in other words all eight copper wires are able to make contact despite the play the couplers allow. Often in couplers that go bad, it's the play that eventually leads to one or more of the copper wires failing to make contact unless the connector is pushed in all the way. ... show more
