A black flute with gold-colored keys and silver-colored lip plate. How cool is that! (more impressive visually than my solid-silver Yamaha flute that cost 20 times more). Lately, I have been taking this flute to my gigs because it looks so amazing. Here's my impressions after playing this for a few months. Pros - The flute looks amazingly beautiful! It certainly draws attention when played in public. - For being a less-expensive entry-level flute, it plays pretty well and the key action is good. All pads seal as expected, and it has a surprisingly good tone. - Given the low cost point, I worry less about damaging this instrument as I have it on-stage with me and take it with me from place to place. - When this flute someday requires an overhaul, I'll just buy another one rather than repair it, given how inexpensive it was. - The split E key makes it so much easier to hit that pesky third-octive E - that modern improvement in flute design is a wonderful addition and surprising to find it on a less-expensive flute. (Unfortunately, I wish my older higher-end silver flute also had that improvement). Cons - The steel lip plate tends to tarnish a little (I've already had to use silver polish to clean it up, and this after only having it a short time). Overall, this is visually impressive, reasonably good instrument, especially given its low price. I'm glad I bought it.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son. The first time he played it he loved it. It sounds nice and clear to this untrained person, me, and is beautiful. My son says his favorite part is that it is black and gold. I definitely recommend for people with little money like me.

Edit: received replacement flute free of charge for the inconvenience. Flute lasted a year until it lost a screw for the part that holds the rod that holds the fingering pads. My sons’ school took it to a music store for repair and they are not able to find a screw that fits. Made the flute worthless and sounds flat now. Unable to get quality sound from it now. Son is 6th grade and is not hard on it and is generally stored at school in a safe spot. Updated to 4 star as they are sending a replacement flute at no charge 5/7/25
