My daughter wanted to learn how to play violin and I wasn't sure where to start. Local instrument shops prices started at $1,500. I didn't want to spend so much, until I knew my daughter was committed. There are many that are in the $80 range, but the reviews were not good. I came across this one and thought we'd give it a try. I was worried that the quality would not hold up when presented to my daughter's violin teacher, because of the low price. However, the teacher said she was surprised with the good quality and that it was perfect for a beginner. I also took it to a local instrument shop, where they attached the bridge and tuned it for us. They also said that the quality was good, and they were surprised by this since it was bought online. So far, so good. If any issues come up, I'll come back to update.

What a wonderful, great violin for both professional or beginner. The quality of this violin is great. Don’t let price be a determination of the quality and sound of this awesome violin. I love it. It’s great. However, the shoulder rest broke, but I love the violin

I love the violin. But a warning to buyers: think twice before attaching the adhesive guide to the fingerboard. After I placed it--correctly--on the instrument, it was obvious that it was 1/2 note off pitch. Now I have to figure out how to get it off; and from what I've read, it ain't easy. Will need to remove the strings first...

The violin itself is decent quality relative to it's price. My main issue in giving 3 stars is the bow and rosin. The rosin is very poor quality (super hard), did not stick to the bow hairs at all. The bow hair is very smooth and does not grip the strings or the rosin well. If you buy this starter kit expect to buy your own softer rosin (5-10 dollars) and possibly a new bow later on. If they included a higher quality rosin (which would be relatively cheap) and maybe a bow with better hair this starter kit would be excellent for the price.

I left the old review below for continuity, but the company reached out to me and offered to send a new violin, free of charge, without me needing to send back the old one. Customer service has been incredibly gracious - apparently it was an Amazon warehouse mixup, not a quality control problem in the company. Violin will be on the way shortly. Thanks again! —— “I received a damaged violin; chips along the scroll, wood burrs and splinters in the F holes, and a stripped tuning screw. I unfortunately don’t have access to a post office to make a return, so looks like I’m eating the cost of a defective product.”

I played violin and rented my instrument from elementary school through my senior year of high school. Neither me nor my family could afford to buy a violin so after senior year I quit playing. It has now been more than a decade and I decided to get back into it and wanted a cheap violin to practice with. Knowing that violins are typically expensive I was skeptical when I came across this violin but am nicely surprised with its quality. The violin isn't perfect and definitely has some resonance and sound quality issues but for the price I do not think you can beat this kit. Mine after a couple days of playing can hold its tune and setup was relatively easy. However, if you do not know how to setup a bridge you might want to look up proper orientation because I initially installed mine backwords. It comes with a case, violin, Rasin, bow, tuner, shoulder rest, cleaning cloth and extra set of strings so its got everything a beginner needs for their instrument. I would recommend this violin for beginners who are not willing to commit $500+ for their first instrument.
