  • If you can handlea screwdriver, you can do this
Style: Modern Pattern Name: Single story-Grey
I feed some local strays, too feral to get adopted. I want them to have some shelter in winter. The house arrived safely and with all essential parts. Instructions were clear. I'm over 60 with no special skills in putting stuff together. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver and an hour or so to follow the instructions. It's very sturdy, made of genuine solid wood - not particle board. I expect the roof to hold up to any weather. It's also very cute! Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Great product and a happy cat!
Style: Modern Pattern Name: Single story-Grey
This was exactly what I was looking for. It is built well and the design was though lt out well. There is 1 think I would change. Which by is adding a way to run the power cord for a heated blanket in by adding a slot cut in the edge of the plexiglass windows. That way there isn't a big hole in the side when you do. I ended up cutting a corner out of the the window myself and just attached the plexiglass back. All of the windows were spider cracked at the screw holes from factory install but still work fine and help keep wind out. Overall very happy with the purchase and would easily recommend this for anyone with an outdoor cat! ... show more

  • Well crafted cat house...if your cat will use it
Style: Modern Pattern Name: 2 story-Blue
Construction/Look: This is a very solidly crafted cat house. The color looks really nice and the design is top notch. It does come with a very thin, extremely small blanket. One of the white pieces that was connected to the roof piece was cracked all the way through (possibly in shipping?), but I had some Gorilla wood glue on hand that I used to reconnect the pieces, and then let sit with clamps for a few hours and I've had no issues with it. If you've got a hand drill this is fairly easy to put together. I put it together myself and as one person, it's a bit tricky to get some of the pieces to line up. It would have been helpful to have a second pair of hands to hold pieces in place while I drilled in the screws, but I was able to manage it myself. It probably took me about 45 mins to put together just because I wanted to make sure I did everything exactly correct. All of the holes are pre-drilled, so you can get the screw started and then go to town on it. I do not recommend using a screwdriver by hand as it would take forever. The directions are just pictures, but it's pretty easy to tell what's going on. As another reviewer had mentioned, I went ahead and used a few screws on the roof pieces that were a bit longer as the ones provided didn't seem like they were long enough. A few days after construction, I painted it with some deck sealer to help the wood last longer. Practicality for cats: My intention for this house was to use it during the winter time when things got bitterly cold, but I bought it in the spring and it's now summer. It has a downstairs and an upstairs. There's a hole inside leading up to the upstairs part, or you can access it from the outside (but it's doubtful a cat would). There are pretty heavy plastic barriers to keep out the elements, which in my opinion might keep a cat from initially going inside. You may have to train your cat to go in and out because they might be scared of the plastic barriers. My outside stray cat that shows up every now and then has gone in it a couple of times after some coaxing, but hasn't stayed in it for more than a few minutes. The first time she went in she didn't know how to get out, so I had to move the barriers aside and let her poke her head through. The real question you have to ask yourself is, will your cat use this shelter? I would hate to purchase something this expensive only to have your cat ignore it. Luckily I had a gift card so I didn't pay full price. I coaxed my outside kitty in it while it was raining the other day and she stayed longer than usual, so maybe she'll warm up to it, but it's been a couple months now and she still doesn't use it. As of now, the woods are her true home. I give it 5/5 for a pre-built home with sturdy material that's easy to construct, but I'd definitely be sure your cat will take a liking to a shelter provided by you before you decide to purchase. ... show more

  • Great House for Outside Cats
Style: Modern Pattern Name: 2 story-Grey
This house has two levels and plenty of room for 4-6 cats depending on the size of the cats. I have three feral cats who have adopted me. As it gets colder, I was searching for something that would work for all three. THINGS I LOVE: 1. The house has two doors, so the cats aren't trapped inside. There is a "window" in the top level to allow extra light and viewing. There is a small hole in the window to help with ventilation. I also really like the awning over the two doors to help keep rain out. 2. The house is spacious. There is a hole in the second-floor floorboard that allows the cats to go up and down inside of the house. 3. The upstairs opening has a ledge that allows the cat to jump on up and then enter. In my case, the ledge was the perfect height for my back porch making it even easier to get in. 4. The two doors in the back allow for easy access to the rugs/beds for cleaning. 5. So easy to put together! The side panels were already put together so all I had to do was attach the four sides, add the roof, and place the floors. The picture instructions were clear, accurate, and easy to follow. WHAT I IMPROVED: 1. There is not much insulation - just the 1/4-inch pieces of wood for the walls. So, I added aluminum foil insulation. It was easy to cut and then use the staple gun to attach. I added two layers to the bottom floor and one layer to everything else except the floorboard for the second floor. 2. I also cut up an old rug to lay on each floor and added a "self-heating" cat bed pad. The first night when it was almost dark, I made a trail of treats to the cat house to encourage my kitties in that direction. I also put treats inside the cat house on each floor. I moved one of my outdoor cameras so I could record what happened over night. One of the cats immediately figured out the plastic flaps and went inside. The other two (both black) took most of the night to figure it out. The first kitty's eyes were shining from inside the house while the other two were wandering around. At least one of the black cats made it in the top floor. I'm not sure if both did as I can't tell the black cats apart on the video. I am VERY happy with this purchase and expect my kitties to stay warmer this winter than last. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for
Style: Modern Pattern Name: 2 story-Grey
It's a bit smaller than I anticipated. It is sturdy and will serve its purpose. The quality is not quite what I was expecting. The acrylic was screwed too tightly or incorrectly and is busted at each screw entry point. The awnings pegs did not fit tightly in the designated peg holes, so I had to add a screw to each one. I'm keeping it solely because I don't know if the feral kitties will use the house, and I didn't want to spend too much. ... show more
