Fun idea and adorable flamingo's when done. The one in the photo was made by me, so a kid's might not look so great. I plan to do this with a friend's kids. I also got the one with the hedgehogs. Unless someone has an insane amount of children, I wouldn't say the entire kit is a good gift, since there are 12 flamingos included. The yard would be covered in flamingos! That is unless the kid's give them as gifts to others. Also, if given as a gift, you probanly would want to include paint. The only paint really needed is yellow and pink. I'd suggest a good amount of pink too, unless the kids want rainbow flamingos. The flamingo when completed will be adorable and look nice even if the kid just created a pink blob. The jewel stickers are an nice touch and might sparkle a little in the sun. It is not really possible to do the detail on the flamingo as they have in their pictures on the instructions. I couldn't figure out how to get the wings to show. I drew detail with pencil and then painted but as you can see it pretty much just ended up pink. I figured that looks best. I had fun doing it. So I imagine most kids would. They will need help getting the rope/ribben through the little holes in the wooden flamingo. They go through the chimes easily. The silver rope (which is very strudy) frays when you feed it through. I just kept clipping off the frayed end until I succeeded at getting it through. I definitely suggest the flamingo's over the hedgehogs. The hedgehogs come with the same components and setup, with the only difference being that their are five different looking wooden peices (all hedgehogs but in different positions). Unless, the kid is an artist, I fear most of the hedgehogs will not look at all like hedgehogs but rather brown blobs (or colorful). ... show more

This flamingo craft kit was a big hit! Our grandchildren had a GREAT TIME decorating their wind chimes! It is, however, important to note that the kit does not come with paint. The description clearly says that it doesn't, but sometimes those details can be overlooked. We set out markers, crayons, colored pencils, and paint and let our kids choose what they wanted to use. All of them used paint and some of them (the older ones) used markers to add details. We knew right away that the one sheet of gem-like stickers did not have enough to satisfy our sticker lovers, so we cut them apart into 12 strips of stickers and let each one have a small set. Bottom line, 4 stars for this fun craft because you must plan ahead and separate the stickers (or purchase more of them) and gather tools for adding color to the craft before you intend to use it. It is not a grab and go set, but it IS super fun and we really enjoyed the conversation we had with the kids as they were creating! ... show more

I like this kit because there are 12 of them in one box so you can keep several kids busy at a party or in my case, a 4H meeting and only need to buy one box. I live that these are easy to put together and most kids can do it with minimal help. I have to give it 4 stars only because it doesn't come with paint. It comes with brushes but no paint. I like to be able to grab these kits and go, only throwing in some newspapers to protect the tables. In this case, now I'm looking for paint. It would also include more than the 2 paint brushes that it comes with. Lastly, it only has one sheet of stickers that is supposed to cover 12 flamingos. We know how much kids like stickers and in this case I just don't think they provide enough. Long story short, 4 stars because the seller seems a little stingy with the goods. ... show more

The idea of these is cute. The legs of the flamingoes form the windchime. However, they don't work very well, despite being cute. These were easy to assemble and decorate. Kids enjoyed doing it and from K-6th grade, they didn't any help. These are probably best used as a novelty, indoor decoration.

These are very cute and you get enough supplies to make 12 flamingo wind chimes. There is no paint or markers included so you need to supply that. All the stickers are on a single sheet so you need to probably split those up if multiple kids are doing the craft because if one child uses too many, there won't be enough for others. There are less than 12 of the larger gems, for example there are only 7 large flowers. Overall though, this is a nice craft. You just have to supply paint or markers to color the birds. ... show more

Great kids project. They loved decorating these flamingos. The hard part is stringing the leg chimes. Wish they could have come predone. It’s a lot of work to string the legs for multiple kids. Other than that it’s a lovely product.

We love tropical things and crafts so these are perfect for our household! Cute little legs. Comes with a lot. Easy to put together and paint. We are going to seal them with a clear coat. They hang inside for the winter and then will be moved out to the gazebo in spring.
