  • everything you need in a p bass.
Color: Dakota Red Style: Bass Only
great p bass, finish is flawless, fret work was good. after I set it up to my playing style i can say its a great bass. 1.75" neck that is very vintage feeling, it's described as a slim C but feels slightly chunky. very playable, feels a lot like my 1963 precision but with poly instead of lacquer. if this was the only bass i could play with for the rest of my life I would be fine with it. fender made a classic. ... show more

  • Do it.
I'm going to start by saying that this a great bass but price is the only reason it's getting 4 stars. Its a p bass. MIM. Don't quite understand the price point. I ONLY BOUGHT THIS BASS BECAUSE ITS MY FAVORITE COLOR. lol. Anyway. I needed a true passive p again. The Fender Vintera 50's p just so happened to be offered in seafoam green and vintage tint neck... Impulse... clearly. Went to the local GC to play one and immediately had buyers remorse. Lol but I told myself that the bass had not properly been set up. Recieved the bass safely. After the set up and a set of flatwounds this bass just instantly became a bit of a romance. Its long winded but its my review 😘 Feel was pretty good. Neck was very comfortable and "friendly" Finish, other than a few minor blemishes and questionable hardware design, is great. Even though i kinda want to drag it behind a truck on a dirt road... Fit.... this is my biggest issue with this bass. First off the pickguard was extremely snug in the neck pocket. I thought I was going to damaged it when I attempted to remove it. The neck was extremely tight on the body... so much so that I found it concerning. Sound. This p bass nails p bass. Stock pickups are a little weak for band settings is my only issue with the pickups. Other than that they sound really good. Overall. A little overpriced. Some minor issues ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ... show more

  • Old School Charm Without The Sticker Shock!
Color: Dakota Red Style: Bass Only
I purchased the Dakota Red Vintera Precision bass because I have been looking for that vintage feel and sound without having to mortgage the house. I wish I could afford a true vintage '58 Precision Bass, but the Vintera does not leave me disappointed. The first thing you will notice is it's beefy neck. If you are looking for a slim modern neck, this isn't it. It is the vintage "C" style neck with a wider fretboard which feels really good to me IMO. The gold aluminum pick guard really stands out next to the red of the body. The craftsmanship and finish is excellent; no fret sprouts or blemishes in the finish. The electronics are excellent with no buzz or crackle and the pups definitely have that vintage sound, particularly when the tone is rolled all the way off; you can definitely channel your inner James Jamerson and Duck Dunn. If you roll the tone back up it nicely brightens things up. I did have my luthier complete a set-up on it and I did change the stock strings with La Bella flats to further provide that old school sound. If you are looking for a bright modern sound then you may want to check out the Vintera Jazz basses. I play the bass through a Fender Rumble which allows this bass to sound it's best. Lastly, the tuners do their job well and provide stable tuning. This is an excellent bass and I have no reservation with recommending it if you want the old school feel and sound. C'mon, you know you want it!! ... show more

  • Overpriced
Color: Dakota Red Style: Bass Only
This is wayyy too much money for a made in Mexico Fender P bass. You can get an American for that price.

  • Overhyped
I read a lot of reviews on these and they were all raving about how made in Mexico Fenders are “just as good and even sometimes better than American made Fenders”. I decided to give it a shot because the color is really nice. Upon arrival the first red flag was the string spacing which is clearly uneven with the first string too close to the edge vs the fourth string which is too far in. I thought, maybe a setup could fix this. Well, the nut is cut this way and it wasn’t even glued flush which is pictured and it overhangs on the first string side. Next is the fret work. Some fret notches are cut too deep, and they didn’t take the time to fill them in. The edges of the fret board are sharp, something I never noticed about instruments until this one came into my hands. The neck also leave the body at a slight downward angle. It’s strange because I tried a made in Mexico special edition ebony P bass at a local store and it had all of these same issues. Maybe the jig is set wrong at the factory on purpose who knows. The hardware isn’t great and there was oil all over the tuners. This is not a big deal, but it shows that little care, time, and effort is put into these guitars. It’s too bad because body was perfect, and the finish was nice too. All they need to do is put in just a little more care and these instruments could be great. I have a made in China Ibanez 7 string guitar and a 5 string bass and they were surprisingly perfect with zero issues and only cost $200 each. I have also had luck with a perfect Squire 70’s Classic Vibe P bass as well which cost less than half of this bass. Luckily, Amazon returns are easy. Be prepared to try multiple times or find one in store somewhere cause otherwise you probably have to get lucky to find a good one of these basses if buying online sight unseen. ... show more

  • Good bass
The bass is a head turner. No denying that. I would have given the bass 5 out of 5 had it not been for the strap button on the bottom being dented into the bass. It did not matter to me that much since I would be replacing the button with strap locks anyway. Overall though a killer bass if you don's want to migrate into American P bass territory. ... show more
