  • They are not flat on the back
I bought these to replace the tuners on my 2008 Precision. I wanted a more vintage look. Problem: the screw plates on these tuners will not lie flat against the back of the headstock because there are little protuberances on the back of them. I am not going to dig holes on the back of the headstock to accommodate them. It's a terrible design. This could be the same way the originals were made, and if so, good for the manufacturer for reproducing them faithfully. But I wish I had known. The Amazon photo only shows the front side of the tuners. They seem well made and sturdy, so I will give them that. But I can't use them the way they are and am disappointed with them. ... show more

  • Not bad, but . . .
Looks & functionality good. However, the tuner shaft seem to be slightly off in diameter. After a close inspection, I realized that the chrome coating is rather too thick causing the unpleasant "grind" between the shaft and the ferrule. I tried with a different ferrules form various fender basses and the result was the same - grinding, squeaking and squealing.. I decided to shave off 200 microns off the inside of the ferules and after this procedure everything worked smoothly. When you buy a combo - tuner + ferrules, always try the fit before you install them on your bass. It will save you a lots of time ... ... show more

  • Fender quality.
I got my expected Fender quality. These are reverse tuning. I did have to enlarge the holes in my new headstock slightly. The holes were 11/16”. I didn’t want to force them and crack the wood. After lacquer, they fit real nice. They work smooth and tight.

Replaced the tuners on a cheap off-brand Fender knock-off with these, and it's a huge improvement both in looks and functionality. Three of them turn smooth as silk, but one of them has a bit of a gritty feel to it, otherwise I'd have given these 5 stars. No regrets.

  • Vintage look is always the best
Very nice on the fender jazz, makes your bass look like it’s supposed to, classy.

THESE DO NOT FIT ON STD MIM PBASS I HAD TO DO MODERATE ADJUSTMENTS, HOLES TO BETTER DESCRIBE IT WITH MY LOCAL LUTHIER, NOT HAPPY AT ALL

  • Love these tuners
I really like reverse machines on Fender style basses. These worked perfectly on a Precision bass that I built this year. I will say that these are little overpriced for what they are.
