  • Tail pieces are given frequently
The last few times I have ordered online 3 lbs of salmon 2 of the 3 packages have been the tail pieces. Just had another order delivered and 1 of 2 packages was the tails. I just think that this is a different product than what is pictured as a fillet and I don’t think the online customers should be stuck with the pieces that no one else wants. I think a separate item should be created for tails and let people purchase that if they want it. I just wanted others to know that there’s a good chance you are getting tails when you order online. ... show more

  • What changed?
I had been purchasing this salmon weekly for the last six months and it was arriving wrapped in brown paper and very delicious. I ordered it today and it arrived packaged in plastic and it was not good; 2 inch section along the entire length was completely inedible. Very disappointing. Won't be ordering again. ... show more

  • Different cut ordering online than in person
Ordered 2lbs and got 4 thin tail pieces that were below average and about to turn, color was off, hint of fishy smell to them. You could tell they were sitting for a while. A case of getting the lesser stock because I wasn't there in person.

  • Wont get again
The first time I ordered, it was alright. And now I ordered again... oh boy, what a disappointment. It was so mushy and fell apart when I pick it up. Just so bad. It’s like something chewed on it...

  • The Scales weren’t removed!
Very disappointed in the quality of the fish that was delivered. Thin end pieces and the worst part, the scales weren’t removed. I’ve never bought fish fillets in the US that did not have the scales removed. This easily added an additional 20 mins to dinner prep and was rather difficult to do on the thin tail ends we received. ... show more

  • Not Up to Previous Expectations
This post is titled, “You’ve Got to be Kidding Me.” Stronger language would probably be more appropriate, but I wanted it posted to warn others. You can use your imagination and substitute for the word “Kidding” me. The 2 lb. filet of salmon that we ordered and received on Friday, April 10, 2020, was a beautiful single piece of tail section. It was fresh and tasty. It was well trimmed and made a nice presentation for Good Friday and again for Easter Sunday. The order I received today, nine days after my first order, was five pieces of soggy mess. They were thrown into a plastic bag and wrapped in leaky brown paper. Three pieces had 2 inches of inedible fat that was untrimmed that looked like they were prepared by someone who should not be called a butcher. The five pieces that were thrown in my order looked like the odd end pieces that were left over in the display case. You know, the pieces that were hacked off of larger filets to make the weight come out right. I believe Nik Nor (see that post if you don’t believe me) got hold of the same poor fish that was mutilated and sold to us. Whole Foods owes me a refund for this disaster but, unfortunately, I don’t see anyplace to request one. Should have ordered a Jersy Mike’s for better value than what I got here. ... show more

  • Highly variable cuts. Amazon get your act together! October 2020
My first order went well - two nice filets. Second order (Oct 2020) was a disaster. Some nice filets along with what anyone would call scraps of fish. Imagine an 8 inch long and a 1 inch wide piece of salmon. What do you do with that? Another two filets were mostly belly flesh ((inedible). Had the fish been propery cut and not included scrap pieces it would have been fine. In fairness to Amazon they refunded this purchase with zero hassle but why waste good fish by incompetent cutting and throw in scrap pieces to an order. Makes no sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazon has its' work cut out. Amazon has got the internet/warehouse/to home delivery down to near perfect. But with Whole Foods it is solely dependent on a single competent worker at a single store to get an order right. Good luck on that Amazon! There is no software solution to this problem but rather it requires micro-managing on a level that I'm not sure you are good at. Amazon, I do wish you well. ... show more

  • High quality soft salmon
I am a very dedicated home cook, and salmon is my go-to seafood dish. For my family, the texture and flavor of the salmon is everything. We look for high quality salmon, stuff that can melt in your mouth when you cook it properly. This salmon fulfills that quality for a relatively cheap price. Ironic because it's whole foods, not known for cheap stuff. But I've tried salmon at every grocery store I've ever so much as passed on the street - finding the best store with the best salmon is always my goal. This salmon is very good to me. It's soft, and when cooked right, it's filled with flavor and softness. It won't match up to the fatty premium grade salmon you can get from boutique grocery stores though. But this salmon is at least $15-20/lb quality. ... show more
