I've been looking for some round panels for my acrylic paintings for my art biz, One Lane Studios, and I'm loving these right now. I wish their edges were more smooth and less porous, but aside from that they're pretty great! I add a few layers of gesso first and then sand the surface and sides and it works like a charm. They are sturdy and the main surface is nice and smooth. The only things I wish I could change are those rough porous sides and I would love a 1.5" deep-set profile option. These rounds are appropriate as art canvas, but are not structurally strong. They consist of a thin piece of very fine quality plywood backed by a ring of 3/4 thick MDF. The middle has nothing behind it, making it like a big drum.
