For reference I'm 5' 4" and wear size 6 shoes and size xs clothing. I bought size medium because that was the correct size for my height according to the chart and I had read other reviews saying you should go by height, otherwise the tights are too short. The tights seemed like they were nice quality. They were the right length for me. They weren't tight on my waist at all. And I thought it was a really nice sign of being well made that the feet were actually foot shaped rather than just being a tube. Unfortunately the feet were HUGE. Way too big to even stretch around my feet. Just lots of extra fabric sticking out past my toes. I wouldn't buy these unless you wear at least a size 8 shoe. UPDATE: I ordered a size small pair and they fit my feet fine (though not super tightly, so I'm hoping they don't stretch at all). They are long enough and aren't too tight around my waist. In conclusion, I would base your size choice on your shoe size more than your height on the chart. Just get the smallest size if you have small feet. ... show more

As I say that, I am 5 1/2 and a size 16-18. After reading many reviews I decided to order a 20-22. I love it so much that I ordered a second pair. They are incredibly warm, beautifully opaque and oh so comfortable. I can wear dresses in the winter, comfortably. They stay up, don't pinch and with my height only having a slight ankle wrinkle is nothing. I will probably buy another pair. The contents are comparable to "Darn Tough" socks. It’s really too bad some people seem to be getting ripped off with an inferior product. I bought two pair at $37 and they are magnificent: soft, warm, smooth, excellent stretch recovery, and did not pill up from rubbing against my shoes. I will treat them gently and hope they last several winters.

It's very hard to find tights with a high wool content. The Germans seem to make the best ones. I got the grey. I would describe them as medium in color, not dark, not light. I am 5'6" and 125lb and the small fit me well. I was not stuffed into them, which was my main worry. They are comfortable and soft. Highly recommend them. Wish they made them in lighter colors like soft taupe, pale blue, etc. I don't wear dark boots so don't want dark tights. Thumbs way up! ... show more
