  • Holds Our Pungo 120 + 125 Kayaks Perfectly
Size: 120-Pound Style: Wall Cradle
Did a lot of research to figure out the best way to store our new Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 and 125 kayaks. Wanted something secure but easily accessible. Thought about a pulley system on our covered porch, but decided to go with hooks on our shed. There are a LOT of similar looking hooks on Amazon, but I chose these because the top two mounting holes are in the center of the hook arm. This is important because I was screwing them into an interior joist that is only 2 inches wide. The double mounting holes that stick out to either side (like the bottom holes on these hooks) wouldn't work without modifications. I didn't even bother trying to use the screws that came with these hooks. Everyone knows that most companies skimp on hardware quality. I went right to my local hardware store and bought some quality 4" star head screws. I went with longer screws because I had plenty of wood depth to screw into, and because I wasn't using the bottom mounting holes (just the top two). The racks mounted easily, and the kayaks fit really well. Very pleased with the way the project turned out. Great price and a quality product if you use good screws. ... show more

  • Sturdy rack for my kayaks
Size: 120-Pound Style: Wall Cradle
I considered getting one of the cheaper, 2-piece, 100 lb capacity kayak wall mounts on Amazon but decided to get the Extreme Max 200 lb mounts instead. I'm really glad I did. My 13' Hobie Mirage Revolution is a pretty heavy kayak (69.5 lbs hull weight, 82.6 lbs fully rigged) and my wife's 16' Wilderness Systems Zephyr is 54 lbs. The Extreme Max 3005.3474 Kayak Wall Cradle Set works perfectly for my kayaks. I bought two 10' treated posts, sunk them 3' into the ground about 8' apart, and mounted two sets of of the Extreme Max cradles on the posts. Given the number of complaints I read about the phillips head screws that came with the mounts (and the fact that I hate phillips head screws because the heads strip if you don't drill the proper size pilot hole), I used 3" torx head screws instead. Installation was a breeze. I'm really pleased with the result. These mounts are sturdy! My sister-in-law has a Seattle Sports heavy duty wall mount (200 lb) which appears to be identical to the Extreme Max. I wouldn't be surprised if they are made by the same manufacturer. I opted for the Extreme Max mounts because they were a few bucks cheaper than the Seattle Sports. So glad I didn't get one of the cheaper 100 lb wall mounts. The foam on the J hooks will undoubtedly deteriorate in a few years since this is out in the sun/weather year round, but when it does it can easily be replaced with pipe insulation or swim noodles. ... show more

  • Great quality, solid, strong and wide ..... but yes, cheap screws.....
Size: 120-Pound Style: Wall Cradle
These are strong and solid - hung both of my kayaks with no problem and only took a short while. The reviews about "cheap screws" are somewhat accurate. They are a bit cheap, but you also have to use the right tools. I originally used a low power cordless drill and star head that was close to the right fit.. and sure enough, the screw got hard to put in about 3/4 of the way into the stud and then the head stripped out. Used vice grips to take it back out..... then got a corded drill/screw driver and proper star head that fit better and they all went all the way in with no problem. You won't be able to use a manual screw driver or low power drill/driver to put these in - remember, you're screwing these into load carrying 2x4s from the side - so its going to take a bit of force/power to do that. The one thing that is a bit odd, is that the top screw holes are in the middle of the rod - so you go dead center on the stud... however, the lower set of screw holes are off to the side - so if you are not dead center on the stud, they will likely miss the mark.... Overall though, i would highly recommend, especially for the price..... looks great, plenty wide and is secure. Just buy your own screws if you don't want to fuss with the ones that come with it. ... show more

  • Perfect for hanging my kayaks
Size: 120-Pound Style: Wall Cradle
These are awesome kayak hooks. Extremely sturdy, cushioned where they support the kayak and they don’t stick out far at all, which was a concern of mine since my garage is pretty tight. The reason I’m giving this 4 stars is that one of my frames was bent on the bottom right corner so I can’t actually get it totally flush in the wall (although it’s screwed into the stud far enough that it’s still totally secured). The screw material is also really soft. I stripped practically all of them even though I made the pilot holes. The horizontal side screw holes were also positioned far enough from the centerline of the frame, or the center of the stud, that all I was getting was drywall. I wouldn’t think that stud width varies that much (although that’s not my field of expertise) so I imagine lots of folks encounter this issue. Might have been nice to have drywall anchors for those included cause they offer no support for weight bearing. Overall these are awesome wall mounts for my kayaks. Very pleased. ... show more

  • Sturdy, easy to install, keeps kayaks secure!
Size: 120-Pound Style: Wall Cradle
These work great! We didn’t have any problems with the screws like others mentioned, but my husband did make sure to pre-drill since the screws are not self-tapping. The kayaks are super stable and snug, and they’re easy to lift in and out on the wall. We hung them about 7 feet apart (lined up with studs) for our 10 foot kayaks. ... show more

  • Ascend FS10 and T10 .... Love these brackets
Size: 120-Pound Style: Wall Cradle
Absolutely love these brackets!! My 10ft Ascend FS10 and T10 fitted perfectly! Originally I saw these brackets at Seattle Sports for $65 so I was very excited to find the Extreme Max 3005.3474 Kayak Wall Cradle Set for $28. I was concerned that the Extreme version might not be as good, but I am happy to report that was not the case. These brackets went up extremely easy and are absolutely solid. I did not have the screw problem that others have mentioned but because these are long screws it is pretty normal that you have to really lean on the power screwdriver to get the Phillips head screws all the way in. So having a decent screw driver head and the ability to put good pressure on the screw heads is important. I would have preferred some type of hex-nut head but it certainly was not a show stopper for me. I should add that I was able to put both Kayaks in the hangers on my own by inserting the nose into one hanger and pivoting the other end up. The top kayak is 57lb and the bottom one 67lb. 5 stars all the way around!! ... show more
